Hello all,

I am new at collecting autographs, but i already have quite a few that i have been collecting.  My question is, What is better for music Autographs for authenticating, JSA or PSA, and how much does each cost?

Any information would be greatly appreciated. TIA

I'm guessing PSA is better, because JSA has been awful in recent years.  Still, I'd put Roger Epperson way ahead of either of those two.

what is the cost of PSA?

Probably depends on the item - i'm sure they have info at the website.  I've only gotten two things authenticated by them in my life, and they were both on-site at the signing.  Otherwise, I don't bother with them, as I don't think either JSA or PSA are really all that great at non-sports authentications.

ok, does roger, do music signatures to, and how can i get in touch with him?

Roger only does music, mostly rock as I understand.  If you're sending in newer stars, obscure names, stars on the rise, etc, it might be tough to find any authenticator knowledgeable on those.

I have an Alan Jackson signature i wan to get authenticated, do you think he could help?

Last time I checked - Doesn't Roger authenticate for JSA??  Making JSA pretty darn good at Music Autographs??

Mark

Alan Jackson has a signed book, posters etc. on his website.

Whether Roger's done so in the past I have no idea, but as I understand he doesn't presently authenticate for them full time. He might consult with him sometimes, but I don't think this information has been confirmed in any official way.

In other discussions on this forum, it has been intimated that the knowledgeable (music) people at JSA have been substituted with new (and cheaper) ones. The large number of obvious forgeries with PSA certification on the market certainly supports this argument.

I prefer JSA for sports autographs and PSA for entertainment autographs.

If you weren't there when it was signed, forget it. It's anybody's guess. As eBay floods the market with questionables, it is taking the credibility of all dealers down.
PSA is swing or miss from what I understand.
