3 negative feedbacks from same buyer claiming that the items failed Beckett.

Messi and Maradona on the same shirt would be a 5-figure item surely? The Federer is not right.

Any thoughts on this Messi? Have had it forever, must likely a fake. Some guy on Reddit thought it was decent. Same with the Rooney, but you'll have to open the attachment in a separate window.

So this is signed by Rooney & Messi? What provenance is there?

Unlikely co-signers unless the lucky autograph-hunter attended something like a Ballon d'Or event.

Makes sense. I was a naive collector at the time. I managed to acquire a bunch of tennis player signatures in-person and was surprised at how simple it was to get them (after match or practice, autograph-signing session). Acquired Medvedev, Cilic, Schwartzman, RBA for men, Barty, Pliskova, Kerber, Halep, Andreescu, Svitolina for women. I just assumed since it was so easy for me, it wouldn't make sense for the prices to be so high. Shame a lot of them are together on giant balls. 

I just assumed that assumption would carry over to soccer memorabilia. I live in North America so it's virtually impossible for me to get big name signatures. 

Some people might think that I'm shamelessly trying to promote my collection. Definitely not the case, I'm not interested in selling it. It was mentioned with the sole purpose of explaining my flawed thought process. Just thought I'd throw in that disclaimer.

Well Rooney is in the States, now, isn't he, and he's a nice bloke so you can probably get his in person easily.

I am sure Messi signs loads for kids waiting at the gates of the various training grounds he attends but that combination just does not sit right with me personally but then - I am a horrible sceptic - lol.

Going back to Federer, I did a little bit of research and he seems to have 2 different sorts of signatures; his pre-2013 and post-2013 one.

First one is 2008

Second one is 2018

Note that I used something from a reputable source.

How do these compare to the 2 below? (It seems I have an older signature and a newer one as well). In my opinion, the one in the picture is slightly different, but the ball looks really similar. One has COA (not that it means anything since it's not from the big 3), the other doesn't.

Sorry - there is no option to reply to your last post with Federer pics.

Neither example sits well with me - he has an attractive signature, full of style and character. You would wish to take its parents out to dinner, sending at least a dozen roses to the mother the next day.

That being said, it must be extremely difficult to provide a good signature on a tennis ball. I dunno how you would do it, tbh. It has to be some short-hand kind of version and I do not feel competent enough to give an opinion on that.

I had an in-person example but I can't find it on my database - most annoying! It's long, though - those short-hand examples on your photos do not compare favourably.

Oh, I've already given up on the photo. The ball at least seems to have a good chance of being legitimate according to someone on Reddit. It may seem counterintuitive, but sometimes it's better not to go for the COA unless it's PSA, JSA, or LOA. It might seem like a truism for more experienced collectors, but as a beginner, I feel like that's an important lesson to take to heart. I've had some of these items for years, but I never though so many companies would be frauds. I guess as long as they "think" it's legitimate, then they can go ahead and defraud people with impunity. Nothing surprises me anymore, though.
