Come on Roger, I hope you hadn't seen this one yet. I mean the Richard is pretty good for a fake but the other 3 are very bad. And you tell me who would have the opportunity to get 4 members of Pink Floyd in a white paint pen. This is laughable.

I'm interested in hearing Roger's feedback on this. It looks good to me.

Serious Steve? It's one of the worst Floyd forgeries I have ever seen, I'd stake my life on it.

I'm not kidding. You may be right, but if it's not good, it's not obvious like most I've seen. But I'm an enthusiast, not an expert.

Look at this. These are from a known forger

http://live.autographmagazine.com/forum/topics/pink-floyd-group-sig...

I cannot believe anyone thinks these are real.

Im no expert.  And I also have no idea if either is forged or real.  Im not going there.

But Jim, in the top attachment with the all white paint marker,  I see a considerable difference in the example of the well known forger.

Just wondering what the reason was for that example.  Im just curious.  No disrespect meant.  Just learning.  Thanks.  Erich

Yes, you are no expert that is true but the two simple tells are the "G" in the gilmour and "S" in Mason are almost identical in all 4 examples. And all 4 are completely wrong. This is the tip of the iceberg though because that litterally 50 points I can make to show you how fake these are.

Forgers tend to get greedy and this guy has. I have been seeing these for a few years now. Notice the two dark sides. Other then the fact he changed up the Waters style he put the gilmour, wright and masons in the same spot. This is a dead giveaway. Plus he added the same art. He is producing these. The same pens are being used for them something switching the people. It's pathetic really, there are literally 50 fake PSA'd Roger Waters signatures on ebay from various people. It's really sad cause these fake are so abundant that they now have become real. But beyond this, they are all really off, I mean ya, technically he has the letters in there and basic shape but everything is just off a lot.

Right on Jim.  Thanks.

The David Gilmour and Roger Waters look authentic to me

They do not look like any Pink Floyd signatures I have ever seen either. A lot of bad Roger Waters signatures are coming out of New York and Philadelphia - if the ebay "ships from" cities are correct. For the most part, they are all the same style, so they are all coming from one person.

There is also a forger in the Seattle area that was decent at pulling off Gilmour. He was listing several a year on ebay for awhile - LP covers, vinyl records, etc. and was fooling everyone because he mixed good/bad items. I will try to post some of the examples I have from both sources.

Though I usually scoff at peoples opinions when they use the "signed in the same color ink, so it must be a fake" line because it is nonsense, but I have to think a white paint pen by all 4 members would be quite a feat indeed.

The Roger Waters looks okay to me, but its the Gilmour that makes me think the piece is authentic. While this could be bad, if it is someone has Gilmour down pretty well. I consider myself maybe intermediate, as far as skill on Gilmour, and this signature takes the cake on most forgeries in my opinion, if it is a forgery.

I compared it to the Gilmour's posted above in the link, and if its the same forger, he improved qutie a bit in this example. The Gilmour's in that link look inauthentic to me. This item in question though looks better than the average. As far as Nick and the others, i cant really say, as i dont know them, but the David is fairly convincing to me.

The paint pen issue i agree on, as it would be fairly hard to do in todays time anyway. Granted Gilmours current signature (if you can ever get him to sign) isnt terribly hard to forge, but i have to admit that the Gilmour in this example would have fooled me.

I am interested in Roger's reply on this item, and everyone else's as well. If this is from a forger than he is better than average. And thats scary to me. Maybe to a Floyd collector these are obviously not authentic, but they would have fooled me on Gimour. Very interesting item and kudos to Jim for pointing this out. Although i definetly dont agree these are bad forgeries, and far from the worst ive ever seen. I think that they are a cut above the rest if they are forgeries. I typically see laughable Floyds on ebay and the like, and while these may be bad, they arent laughable in my opinion. Whether good or bad, their have been good enough points brought up to make it an interesting discussion.

This is a pretty good resource to compare too. Anyone who actually get autographs in person for a living can tell with out question that there is something wrong with all the ones I listed about. This site link I am posted is one one guys in person collection over many years. The only one I am skeptical about is the complete Animals. Dave could have been having a really bat day but I honesly think he found this signed by Dave, Richard and Nick and he got Roger him self. I have my doubts about the blue ink signatures.

James, thanks again for you educated reply. I do feel compelled to comment about the "same pen" issue. I have been getting autographs in person since the early 90's. Ya, Blue and Black are easy to complete it but a paint pen is not. What using a fat paint pen for example you have to let them dry, you can't just flip through 10 albums with a guy like when you are using a felt pen. You limit your self to 1 or 2 usually. And 90% of the autograph hounds out there do it for money so quantity is always a driving force so we rarely use paint pens unless we have to. And getting a complete band in the same exact pen is almost always impossible. Getting autographs is usually a scrum, rarely is it not rushed or a bit chaotic. If two guys come out at the same time and you are fumbling around with wet paint it's easy to miss one. And at any time a member could grab someone elses pen and mess up your items. Or, you could simply miss someone all together and it is usually a year or so later before the band comes back to town and by then you are on to another paint pen with a different thickness and flow texture or shine. My point is graphers using paint pens in rare, we use blue or black 90% of the time. Completing any band with the same exact pen is even rarer, completing PINK FLOYD is impossible with any pen hahaha let alone a white paint pen. I am not sure if any of you are in person collectors of not but any hound know these white pens are the worst of the worst. They work 1 time, you cant just break them out at a various times. Plus they are fairly modern, this meddle would have to have been signed when all 4 were in the same room at live 8, or the royal albert hall syd barret tribute and I can safely say it was not.....

In closing, when I make a comment about being skeptical of complete items all in the same paint pen I am just saying those are the rarest of the rare and very hard to do so be very careful.
