I've honestly never seen him sign his entire first name in the last 40 years....
The one on the bottom left looks 100% fake
I have been looking at authenticated signatures and it seems that most of them are one connected autograph. The shaky sigs compared to really smooth ones confuse me plus the crossing of the t when it misses with the capital E is something I don't see on certified pieces. My impression is he may have signed some but then let someone else take over.
Not that I am interested in paying the ridiculous prices for any of these but it looks like Leaf has released another card proven to be a forgery in this year's set and quite honestly if they had any sort of Q/A it should have been caught.
these are the same autographs as from his private signing and some with his first name. don't compare them with his in person on the street autographs because these are way different.
To be honest I have no idea where the authenticated autographs I am looking at were signed but they almost all look more consistent than these from a sit down private signing. Did you witness this and notice the variables from signature to signature?
did you ever thought about his age and that this could be the reason of the variables of his signings?
Of course I did which is why I mentioned it but I don't know that his age is a factor. Linda Ronstadt is 77 with Parkinson's and all of her sigs are consistent. As far as I know Clint is a healthy dude.
ok understand that you don't trust some of these autographs and have no idea about ronstadt and maybe she let sign her autographs by someone else? i have a large collection of signed mj fox and not one autograph is the same but back to clint eastwood is that i have no doubts about authenticity on the pop century cards.
MJ Fox has been dealing with Parkinson's for many more years than Linda has. Also I checked out some of her PSA and Beckett approved items. Everything was pretty much in the ball park. Can we prove 100% Linda signed them? No, but I have far more confidence in her sig than I do in Eastwood's right now.
For decades Clint has been synonymous with secretarial signatures. I would say to the point where it is probably a habit in his life style. The variety coming from Pop Century displays traits that I have always understood to be from a secretarial signature while at the same time some of them look legit.
This is why I have doubts, other than a complete religious faith in the pop century process I am asking why you have none?
i did study clint eastwood autographs for a while and did see his autographed items from his private signing a few months ago and the funny thing is that if they would not mention these where from that signing i would have doubts. because they are much different than his in person on the street ones. maybe it's better to mail pop century with your concerns and maybe they can help you out.
Not sure what they would admit to or attempt to clarify. Sounds like there are some issues going on with leadership at the moment. Thing is they seem to be running several celebs this year where every card is a 1/1 which means a small number of autographs. Maybe 50 or 100 tops?
If Leaf was present at these "private" signings wouldn't photos and witnessed samples legitimize this very expensive product?
I mean, I get the logistics of witnessing every celebrity signature can be a bit impossible but this is Clint Eastwood!!
i only know that ''celebrity authentics'' put holograms on the item and you get a small coa card with signing proof of the celebrity signing the actual item. but that proof is just one photo on the coa card and go's with all these actual signed items. there is something that called trust and i trust celebrity authentics for a 100% but don't know how pop century works but the cards you posted looks like the ones from his rare private signing a few months ago but did mention that before to you. but like your style of investigation because i like to do that to. good luck michael.
I have collected a few pop century autos from time to time and always researched the signatures just to be safe. I believe its good practice so this is a great effort. Could I try to answer your question with another question... has there ever been a confirmed pop century signature that was secretarial? Serious question, I havent seen one yet. Of course anything is possible unless it was witnessed. As for these, I have to believe Leaf is doing all they can to make sure they don't acquire a bad rep. People would stop collecting these cards. Still, you cant base authenticity on that thinking. I wish I had more experience with Clint but I have never had a desire to add him to my collection. Just wanted to add this as a fan of pop century in general.
