I know inscriptions can lower the value of a piece- how about where the signer inscribes it to a place, such as a concert hall or venue.

I wanted to buy this Don Henley, but couldn't dcide whether the inscription was a deal breaker if I chose to resell. Any opinions would be great.

My instinct is that while perhaps not as desirable as a piece without the inscription, it's not as detrimental to the value as an inscription to an individual.  The Riverside is still up and running, and an inscription like that might actually lend to the credibility a bit - some collectors could possibly even view it as a plus.

Funny you should mention that though - as soon as you asked the question, I had a feeling I knew which seller you were talking about.  They listing isn't too upfront, bur I know that the seller is The Rave/Eagle's Ballroom, a concert venue in Milwaukee.  They get most acts to sign posters and/or canvases before the show.  Most are uninscribed, but several do have a "To the Rave" or "To the Eagle's Club" type inscription.  They did seem to have a neat stash of other signed items from other nearby venues (Riverside, Alpine Valley, etc) signed in the 90's as well.

Yeah, I snagged the Bruno Mars and Def Leppard pieces. I've been wanting Steve Clark on something for awhile and man, that is a tough one to find on something cool. The fact I got a "Best Wishes," I'm in heaven.
That took me ten years to find the right item.

I was going to get the Don Henley but he disappeared- maybe just on vacation, I hope.

They had a nifty GNR piece too I think.

And yeah, those canvases are sweet.  I'm still kicking myself for passing on this one a few months ago at $200.

They also ceased listing autographed posters and canvases on their website.  They used to be listed under the merchandise tab:

The Bruno Mars is canvas, and wow is all I can say. Like, super. It's one of the coolest things I own.

The Florence is incredible. Just super. Damn.

Yeah, I mulled over it too long and missed out.  They actually had another one too that was a color version of the same image.

I seem to recall them having a Green Day canvas that went fairly quickly.

They come from Joe Balisterieri who is/was a promoter. He may even own the Rave.

They are amazing and affordable.

Looks like you're right.
