Garry King is well liked by some but I see a big problem with some of the items I see on his site.  I'm not referring to Kenny Baker and other small bits but rather the large $$ music items.

Dealers in the UK might not be aware of current music item that they offer for sale.  In another thread several autographs from Autografica were deemed fake.  The items were Clint Eastwood, Charlton Heston and Harrison Ford.

He might not know there is a problem.

except for the anonymous one on ACAF.

you are right though as Garry indicated; "First, I don’t know Adrian, never met him, never spoken to him, and I only know a few dealers in the UK who have. I only started to hear about him when MJ died and I purchased those MJ’s you have seen from another dealer.,,"

I believe the other dealer has since been alledged to be Dominic Manning.  What is not known is whether or not any other inventory came this way as well.   Regarding the point on perhaps "secretarials" Garry went on further to say, "And I understand that most of these items were signed whilst he was sitting in his limo, not in a crowded street or area. ".   But since he wasn't there, it is probably something that has been fed to him on how they were obtained.

When someone is part of a social organization and hold some type of leadership in that organization - they can certainly speak out.  It typically, starts with, "even though I am a director of this organization, I am not speaking for them nor am I representing them in these comments - these are my comments"

and as far as Lets all hope this is done asap as its becoming a circus.   It is already a circus and a three ringed one at that.

On the other side of the coin, throwing all AFTAL dealers under the bus is like throwing all UACC ones under the bus.  For some that might be an excellent idea but for a good portion of us it's cutting one's nose off to spite their face.  You for example, even though an AFTAL member, seem to have very good favorable ratings in what you sell as but one instance of why throwing every AFTAL dealer under a bus is not wise.

DB,

Ive just looked at this again, and from your interpretation of Garrys reply I can read that most of the Jacksons he obtained from Adrian were not sent in via Security.

They were obtained by Adrian 'In Person' from Jackson whilst he was sat down in his Limo

So there you have it, it kinda blows my theory that they were sent in via Security and perhaps signed by a member of Jackson entourage

perhaps but again, that's what he "believes" and since he was two generations removed from who/how/where they were obtained it doesn't necessarily ring true and wouldn't rule out the theory from my viewpoint.

I see your point now mate

Brandon,

We already know the answers:

  • The MJs are fake.
  • The McCartneys are fake.
  • Probably virtually everything connected with Adrian Londgen and perhaps Dominic Mannng is fake.
  • Powerful AFTAL members just want to cover their or their friends' butts at the expense of the truth, collectors and the AFTAL membership as a whole.
  • The only reason AFTAL may be doing something about it now is because their manner of handling the problem isn't working.

I want to see how AFTAL handles it now. Will the innocent, reputable members of AFTAL be successful forcing the AFTAL board to do the right thing? Will the board voluntarily call for immediate elections? Will AFTAL ever recover?

I once thought AFTAL was the model of what a dealer organization could be. And I think that the vast majority of members felt that way, too. Now AFTAL is a big part of the reason I'm losing faith in dealer organizations, period.

That's how I take it too. If they are willing to use their "power" to control the market in such a way, have they done so knowingly in the past?

We already know that they will attack honest Dealers ( current behavior at least ). Have they done so I. The past? If so, how? In court cases? In online blackmail? By threats?

These are questions that SHOULD be asked.

I don't understand how some get to be 'hung' and some get to be protected.  I see that Garry was on here at one point but has all but disappeared.

As for me, I'll hang 'em if they deserve it, and I'll stand up for them if that's what they deserve. Garry King is one who should be stood up for.

I cannot believe you just said that!  WOW!

It's Halloween and I've got trick-or-treating duty tonight. I'll check back when I can.

If I was a dealer I'd never ask you trick-or-treat.

Thanks DB
