Hi, i was at a charity auction and saw this guitar claiming to be signed by the band R.E.M. Can you please let me know the authenticity on it?

Does not look good to me.

How can you tell? They had a bunch of other items there that looked terrible. Its pretty sick how companies like, Allstar Enterprises, can provide their fraudulent items to scam the charities and their donors!

They aren't donating these items out of the generosity of their hearts. They allow charities to sell these items. Anything raised over the price agreed to the charity keeps. Most I've seen at charity auctions rarely hit the price the fraudulant dealer is asking for. More people are aware of this scam these days then they were when it first started.

In my opinion, this item is not authentic

Here is a good REM...

As fake as it gets

The woman whom owns the company just emailed me back stating that all of their items are obtained in person and "Before I would go put my trust in companies like PSA/DNA, JSA, and others, I would take a further look at sites that police this industry like www.haulsofshame.com. PSA, JSA and others are in a lot of trouble right now"

It sounds like an excuse for their forgeries by placing blame of PSA, JSA ect. Is this true about PSA and JSA? From my research it looks like they are very reputable.

So their response to your inquiry is basically "PSA/DNA sucks"?  Lazy.

If all their stuff was obtained in person, shouldn't they have some better proof of these signings?  They didn't seem to have much of anything except a handful of shrinky dink photos and a slew of questionable (at best) items.

Yes, the email stated pretty much PSA, JSA, Tristar, Steiner, authentication is fraudulent.

Did they seriously take shots at Steiner and Tristar?  Wow.

Funny, I just noticed this quote on the website:

"The other 5% of our autographs come from reputable companies like Stacks, Steiner, Tri-Star, & Upper Deck Authenticated. We do this to ensure the highest quality possible for YOU…our customer!"

However, I haven't seen one item listed from any of those.  Why would they need them anyway, especially when Tom Brady is magically signing all of your premium stuff for free?

She is a thief.
