Redd Foxx Signature Study

This is a thread created to evaluate Redd Foxx's signature.

HOWEVER,

It has come to my attention that Redd Foxx may have authorized his secretaries to sign his checks.  If so, this makes even checks (which are usually the safest bet) doubtful.  

Here are some checks and other Redd Foxx signatures to judge on.


The checks have a consistent signature, but if they are indeed secretarial that would greatly affect how we view his signature; JSA passed one as mentioned above.

Well, I certainly hope that 1985 check to the IRS is authentic... I own it.

I just revisited this after helping Mike with this study almost five years ago.  I came to the conclusion that the two "check" styles are both by Redd himself.   The style with the quicker straight line "F--x" was consistent with his signature on some paintings he did. There was also a signature that PSA has in their study that matches this it was an official document card. So the official documents (including checks) I am confident of so your 1985 check is fine.  This is a link to the card:
