There are a couple of stray marks from the paint pen.  I am thinking about removing them, or reducing them as much as possible.  Specifically around the "E" and the four dots.

Does anyone have a method for removing paint pen marks or any stray marks in general without damaging the signature?

Probably be hard to find something that will remove the paint and not the shiny surface of the helmet. I would leave as is, for risk of making it worse.

I'll second that.  The marks are extending directly from the signature itself.  Personally, I wouldn't even mess around with that for two main reasons:  1) Any alcohol/removal substance will end up coming in contact withe the signature itself and 2) it almost feels like you'd be sort of altering the signature in a sense.

Really, it doesn't look too bad at all.  It's not like it's smeared.

I have cleaned up many helmets and if u don't bear down too hard it does not damage helmet. The key is patience I have worked for hours before just a little at a time, get you some post it notes and cover the autograph except for the smudge you want to fix, get a magic rub eraser and gently move over part you want to remove. The post it protects the autograph. It's kinda like painting how you tape off what you don't want to get paint on. Hope this helps !!!

Thanks everyone for your opinions.  Im sort of cautious because I wouldn't want to mess up the signature, but if I can just touch it up a bit without doing any damage, I'd really like to do something.

Tim- Thanks for the recommendation!  What type of magic rub eraser do you use and does it work for paint pen do you think?

I appreciate all the help

Mike

I would leave it alone Mike P.  Whenever I attempt something similar to what you are suggesting I regret it.

I think it looks ok.  DA BUS..................

I think it still looks good. I wouldn't mess with it either.
