She signed for me at the Critics' Choice Awards in Jan 2020 - she wrote in all caps for me and I got an R---- and Z------ and she was taking her time.  My brother is a movie critic in Illinois and he takes me almost every year.  RZ was at a the Judy table with others - but she had a bodyguard, who stayed close to the table, but couldn't stand next to it during the live show, so when commercials came on, he quickly moved to the table and I was eyeing him all night and he definitely told me not to approach her earlier.  It was getting to be to the end of the show and I got to talk to most everyone I wanted to that night, so I staked out a place against the wall and I could sense the next commercial break was coming and I started walking to her table and I beat him to her.  She couldn't have been more pleased that I came over to see her!  She graciously shook my hand and asked me my name as I took out the magazine cover and she took her time signing it.  Meanwhile, my buddy was standing behind me drilling a hole into my skull with his eyes and I turned around after she was done and I congratulated her on her performance in Judy and her bodyguard was sooo pissed.  I just smiled and got out of the area as quick as I could.

As an aside, I have had tremendously good luck at the awards show - most are completely fine with signing before the show starts or during the commercial breaks (Al Pacino, Mel Gibson, Norman Reedus, Spike Lee, Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, John Lithgow, Claire Foy, cast of This Is Us (first year only - then Milo turned into a jerk), Andrew Garfield.  Some have said no because they were at the show (Tom Hanks and Patrick Stewart) or they didn't like the photo (Ewan McGregor) or would just allow a photo with them (Justin Timberlake).  Others have guards around them constantly and you will take your life into their hands if you even approach (Jennifer Lopez and A-Rod and Ryan Gosling).  Maybe I will post some more of my experiences in a post if folks are interested.

Unfortunately, in the Critics Choice Awards strive to replace the Golden Globes as a premier pre-oscar awards show - they have moved the location a hotel which is much smaller than the airplane hangar they used to have it in - accordingly, they critics don't get to bring guests anymore - and some of the critics will have to sit in a room outside the main ballroom and watch on TV - so we will see if I get to go or potentially smuggle myself into the main room somehow.  And the show, which was supposed to be this upcoming weekend has been postponed indefinitely due to COVID.  I couldn't go this weekend anyway - so it may be a repreive for me to get to go later in the Spring.  Fingers crossed.

Great story! Do you mind posting your authentic in-person Al Pacino? I think a lot of board members would appreciate seeing a real one as we all routinely see fake ones on the board. Thank you

Very nice David

Dan Morris, Thanks for the look….getting opinions before selling.
