why not man...you sound like the kind of guy who doesn't like to be questioned and that anyone who disagrees with you should just be put in a camp...Forums are open platforms avaliable to anyone...

Because it is a ridiculous thing to do, and any autograph collector would know this. You dont judge credibility by trying to test a forum on one item you know is real, when we all are trying to help you out with authenticity. And pretty much everyone that has commented has agreed. That should tell you something. At the very least its bad taste.

When a collector arrives on this forum or anywhere else, one finds who is knowledgeable on what by reading their comments and seeing what they bring to the table. Not by trying to drop tests on the members.

And as a matter of fact i love being questioned. But how did that really even come up. I havent been asked any questions, so where do you get that i dont like answering them. And as im sure you can ask the members of this site, i am as kind as can be when i offer my opinions, and will go out of my way to help anyone. If someone disagrees then thats fine, doesnt bother me at all, and happens.

But what i have no patience for, and react very strongly too are people that are selling forgeries, people who try and sneak back onto this site after being banned, and those that come here with alterior motives. And just as bad, is someone trying to "test" other members. Lets just say you have no motives here, then as i said before, at the very least its bad taste. And not only here, but just about every single forum. Including the free ones such as fanmail.biz. Once you tell people you are testing them etc, people simply stay away.

Before writing anything about how i dont like being questioned or disagreed with, i suggest you do what you should have done to start with. Look over the site, and see what people are about and their knowledge. If you would have, you would have seen that the only time i react aggressively towards anyone is when forgeries are being sold. And that has earned me and countless others many enemies.

As you can see by all the responses, a large percentage of people here feel the exact same way about this kind of practice.

I agree with you completely, Terrier. Very astutely stated. I've met Robert Plant many times - my photo on this site is a picture of my wife & I with him recently - and I've gotten many things signed by him, but I am in no means an expert on his signature. I give my opinion when I feel I can make a qualified, reasonable decision on an item. I don't give them to be "tested" by others. We all give unpaid, free opinions here. If you want to "test" opinions, go pay for them from "experts" on an item you know to be authentic & see what results they come back with. Having a discussion about an item with differing opinions as to its authenticity is one of the great things about this site.

thats a great photo. that is the one thing my wife and I didn't do and we regret it. one of the times he was in NY at the Beacon, I think, Kelsey Grammer and his new wife were back stage and I got a nice pic of all of them together.  and I did get a video of my cousin introducing Plant to my daughter and her boyfriend.  fun times.

Thanks, terrier. Robert is a nice guy - low key and very quick-witted. Great story about your daughter. I'm sure her boyfriend was star-struck!

Nobody on this forum is an "expert" Ken.  Some have simply been offering their opinions longer than others because they have been involved in the hobby for a much longer time.  I agree with Carl.  Even PSA and JSA get it wrong sometimes.  Although I believe that members should stick to commenting on autographs that they are most familiar with I do not believe that members should make a mockery of what many of us take seriously and that is weeding out the bad autographs and exposing the forgers.  This website has been very successful in accomplishing that very thing and the hobby is much better off as a result.

Very well put...Mike
