eBay power seller "smcomstore". They have TONS of autographs with very, very good feedback. Mostly sell JSA/PSA/GA certified items. Are they a legit seller? Just curious.

Thanks,

"legit" can be relative;   if you do an AML search on smcomstore or sportsmemorabilia.com you will find lots of information to consider.  That is one site that one really needs to know what you are looking at... going by feedback ratings in terms of authenticity would not be adviseable.   here are but two links.

Thanks for the links. Is GA typically a genuine/reputable COA?

smcomstore has a lot of legitimate items.  there are a significant number of them that are certed by GA.  Many of those are good, but some are questionable, so be careful, as you would with any seller.

Thanks, I need to start training my eyes to pick out fakes! Any suggestions for a beginner?

Ryan,

I own Global Authentics LLC and if I can help you in anyway please contact me at ssipe@globalauthentics.com. Remember that many of the "opinions" on here are biased so if you should have any questions contact me directly and as always we will take good care to help you out.

Thanks,

Steve Sipe

Thanks Steve, will do.

Remember that many of the "opinions" on here are biased.

Can you elaborate on the specifics?  Seems to me that the derek jeters and a number of other specific one's were dead on.  If any of the specific ones were incorrect then they ought to be debated.  I am not sure biased in these many instances would be an accurate statement.

Biased is defined as;

  • Show prejudice for or against (someone or something) unfairly:
  • Influence unfairly to invoke favoritism

and the only bias I have seen for the most part is a bias to ferret out non-authentic items.

Agreed, DB.

Steve- In addition, the calling of other individuals as "biased" is also evidence of one's own bias.

100% spot on DB. Being non biased would include admitting you authenticated fakes and putting it right and avoiding doing it again, something GA do not seem good at.

The GA authenticated Reggie Jackson items being sold by smcomstore look questionable to me.

I sent a Reggie GA certified to Cee Gee earlier to check out, I'm gonna be sad if its real because the auction is now over... :(

If it looked anything like the two posted now you should be fine.  They appear to be very atypical to me.  Keep me posted.
