I've never thought of using the USPS in this way. This will be fun. I get a lot if enjoyment doing these kinds of missions. We could be on the verge of finally exposing these dirty rats...

Well, I hope it works :-) It was the only other thing I could think of to do, especially after remembering just the threat of the USPS was effective.

Hi All , Got my refund today from Poop Dogg Records , Full credit including the shipping , Looks like they know what they did and trying to save face now

I’ll standby what I’ve said, I don’t see a firm taking this on. With that being said, it’s deceptive, unethical and I hope all get their funds returned. Jelly Roll with his Autopen CD, Snoop with a blatant ghost signer, collectors don’t deserve this garbage.

The Attorney General, the State and the USPS are not firms. They will have an interest of their own with regard to the volume and frequency of this demonstrable behavior if all goes well.

And if they decide to pursue, I’m 100% for it.

No hobby tries to take advantage more of the collectors than Autograph Collecting does. It used to be sports memorabilia and coin collecting but we’ve well eclipsed those groups unfortunately. Lots of land mines to navigate. Doesn’t help when it’s those you are a fan of are doing it to you for sure.

For some reason some folks throw their critical thinking out the window when buying autographs. Having folks saying things like "you can never know unless you see it signed" doesn't help the new collector at all, and they often don't know how to recognize some of the folks making those statements and winnow them out.

I just wish that people would use the same obvious logic they employ when buying a used car. Under those circumstances people call in their own mechanics, their friends, brothers - anyone they trust under the hood. VIN numbers are checked, assessments made and established values consulted. A $20,000 car for $5,000 seems funny and deserves a really good second look - was it actually in an accident? Something else?

But a $10K or whatever signature for $500 Buy it Now with Free Shipping doesn't get notice and the red flags are flying. Just since New Years I have seen folks spending hundreds on things that should certainly be many thousands, and are surprised when they find the truth. If they simply researched the established value they might realize they were getting a too good to be true deal - by a ridiculous margin often enough - and further research is called for.

It's not apples to apples, but enough is there to get my drift.

NO ONE will care about my collection more than I do. I remember that.

Very good points. My barber (believe it or not) once said “gambling addicts don’t care if they win or lose, they just care to gamble”.

To a degree, I think some collectors know that what they are purchasing likely isn’t authentic but are too far in love with the “idea” of owning such name and as a result, all reasonable research efforts get thrown out the window and soon buyer’s remorse sets in. I know, I was one of those guys in the late 90s buying $100 Jim Hannaford Elvis Autographs and $300 Hans Bakker specials.

My approach changed after I was burned for five figures 20+ years ago. Now, even with the best TPAs, I presume EVERYTHING is fraudulent until I’ve proven to myself otherwise. That requires a lot of time and research and has allowed me to put together a nice (and authentic) collection.

+ 100! "...I presume EVERYTHING is fraudulent until I’ve proven to myself otherwise. That requires a lot of time and research and has allowed me to put together a nice (and authentic) collection."
