Hello!

What do you think about this one?

It´s signed an a bit of paper, approx 5x3, from an autograph album that seems to be from the 40s judging by what are written on other autographs from the same album.

Compared to this one on ebay it seems pretty good:

Let me know what you think!

And if real, what do you think it would be worth if it were for sale as is, without any certification? I know I can´t use the fantasy prices that many items on ebay are listed for as comparison..

Thanks for helping!

You have a wonderful example of Authentic Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy signatures, In my humble opinion.

Going price these day is around $600-650 retail.

Just out of curiosity, how do you (or anybody else who read this...) think it would affect the price if this were send to psa/dna or a reputable UACC-dealer for certification? Is it worth the trouble?

Speaking as a collector only I am much more comfortable buying big ticket items if the seller  either has the item certified, or will take it back if I have it done and it does not pass.  I do not base the sale  on that alone but it is helpful.  As for price lets say there were two album pages one priced at $500 with a no return and no PSA or JSA, and one that offers a return should either of those not pass it but the price is $650 I would go with the latter.  I do not buy with the intention of ever getting my money back so I am a bit different than some in that regard.  With this particular one I am not sure you need to do anything but offer a return.  As I say I am talking as a collector.

Thanks, that interesting and good to know!

I am not a fan of any of the Third-Party Authenticators.

What I continue to stress here is that Collectors and Dealers need to be educated about the autographed items they are buying or selling.

A Collector should take the time to research the signature of interest, against known published Authentic Exemplars of the signature in question. There are many fine autograph reference books out there, just take the time necessary to make yourself comfortable.

As for Dealers, any of them that do not offer a "Unconditional Life-Time Money Back Guarantee"

in regards to an items authenticity, I would stay away from.

Certificates of Authenticity are useless without the above guarantee.

Just my humble opinion.....

Thanks! I agree with you completly!

I agree with Mr. Shinn that it appears to be genuine.  It has the period after Laurel which is good and the ink looks good.  The fact it is an album page is good I would say late 40s.  i have a Stan Laurel typed letter signed that was $200.  With both on same page as a collector I would think the $600-650 range Mr. Shinn cites would be good.

Thanks guys! Appreciate your help! :-)
