Hello everybody. This is my first time on here, my first post. I am a beginning collector, and wish to seek eagles authentic autographs. I have a chance to buy from the guy who has the largest eagles collection, the guy with 400 plus pieces, anyways, he's selling an 11x14 and I'm not sure if it's legit. Opinions? He does sell quite often and his website is loaded with genuine stuff.

Christopher, you can attack the ethics of Beckett, myself and other trusted members of this site all you want, but you are the only one left sitting here believing Duncan's autographs to be authentic. Beside's Mr. Duncan himself of course, who likely committed a felony threatening Steve C. If you want to discuss ethics and proper behavior, perhaps you should start with the person you are purchasing your autographs from.

Mike - I made observations about business practices, yes.  And I stand by those. The two business practices I commented about strike me as just not very smart.  In the case of Beckett, it's enough for me to write the organization off completely.  But that's my choice - certainly doesn't have to be anyone else's.  Whose ethics did I attack?  Not yours.  Not any other trusted member, as far as I know.  And this certainly was not my intention.  Fair point about Duncan's email to Steve.  I would not have sent that, and I think it was a mistake.  I feel that for me this is not really about defending Stephen Duncan.  It is about stepping in occasionally when something strikes me as particularly odd.  In this discussion, you expressed a view that the Hotel California program is an exact match for items that have come from Duncan's collection.  It is not.  It just isn't.  Ask Mr. Cyrkin, who feels quite strongly about what a "D" in Don (Henley) should, or more specifically, shouldn't, look like; look at the Joe Walsh on that program and find any match to it anywhere on Duncan's website.  You won't be able to.  I asked Stephen if he ever owned that.  He said no.  He's either lying to me or he isn't.  But one thing is absolutely clear.  It is not true, never has been, never will be that all of Stephen Duncan's collection is forged. And I feel at times as though this and the prior discussion are trying to establish just that - the permanent branding of this guy as some master criminal.  Take the "analysis" of the Glenn Frey earlier in this discussion.  I agree with part of the conclusion.  I've been studying the members signatures for quite a while too.  Frey signed a particular way when in a controlled setting.  The 1994 tour programs and the band-issued guitars are the best examples I can think of.  They're patient, all very similar and the G and L in Glenn are spaced and angles in a particular and fairly consistent way - as the comparison suggests.  But this does nothing to establish what an in person, on the street Glenn Frey looks like. Nothing at all.  My understanding is that he was often frustrated with autograph seekers, even at times outright mean and rushed through autographs as quickly as possible.  To compare an in person Frey signature with a band-issued one and conclude that the in person is different and therefore a forgery is just not logical to me.

Christopher the problem you are having with this concept is you don't believe that Duncan would lie to you, even after he has been caught in countless lies throughout these discussions. You are not approaching this logically. He is most certainly lying to you and has been this entire time.

Please feel free to ask Mr. Cyrkin if he thinks that program matches the Duncan forgeries. We have discussed it at length and it was my impression that he believes it came from Duncan. Perhaps he has changed his stance on this item, but as far as I know he has not.

I share the same opinion of everyone else in this thread, including people you mention you have great respect for, and the lead authenticators at Beckett. You are the only one I have seen here believing any of these autographs are real.

Just a brief note to Christopher, since you brought up my analysis on the Glenn Frey signatures in your responses to Mike T.  I included at least one in-person example (on a Hotel California album) which comes from my personal collection...not all of the pictures that I posted were of the band-issued signed guitar variety.  The one from my collection matches up extremely well with the band-issued guitars, but there are discrepancies between Mr. Duncan's examples and the ones I have included as authentic.

My apologies Neil.  I've been pushing the limits of multi-tasking today and have slipped up a couple of times.  Seriously - congratulations if you have such a great Frey autograph on an HC album.  That's a gem for sure.  Do me a favor - see Stephen's Eagles page and find the two Glenn Frey photos that are presented in succession.  The first is inscribed "Stephen Best Wishes Glenn Frey" and the next is inscribed "Stephen To Shave or Not to Shave! Glenn Frey".  Surely you wouldn't consider these forgeries.  Correct?  If they are not forgeries, then how do these inform/ influence your view of what an authentic Glenn Frey can look like.  PS - sending you a friend request to take this discussion off line.

Let me ask you this; are any Eagles autographs owned by Stephen Duncan real, in your view?

Absolutely. I won't speak for the others who have participated in the discussion, but I believe there are many authentic examples in his collection. The problem is there are many examples mixed in that I feel are not authentic. Particularly the ones that he has been trying to sell or already has sold.

I encourage you to talk to Epperson, Neil and other graphers who have chased the Eagles over the years. The last time Roger chimed in I believe he said it took him 10 years to complete his LP. A decade. For one complete item.

How is it then feasible that SD has hundreds of fully complete Eagles items, all signed perfectly, all in the right pen color, with perfect placement? That alone is one of the largest red flags I have ever seen in this hobby. Then you dig deeper and start comparing the signatures and nothing adds up. Look at his ebay account for crying out loud, it's littered with forgeries all over the place. And you trust this guy enough to buy autographs from him?

I understand you have probably spent many thousands of dollars with SD, and are itching for your investment to be worthwhile - but I encourage you to look at the facts objectively here.

MIKE T: Once again you accuse, but offer absolutely no proof of any kind. It’s the “Chicken Little Syndrome” and you are the best on this website at it.  My compliments……….

That HC program signed in gold paint pen has never been mine in any capacity whatsoever. Period. I had never seen it before it was posted to this website.

You are 1000% dead wrong at accusing me of that program ever being mine. To call me a liar with nothing more than your opinion as your evidence calls not my credibility into question, but your own.

NICE CROP JOB, .......you will stoop to any level.

BY THE WAY, I don't post my Tour Books/Programs in my albums portion on any of the larger pages. Look at the rest of the larger pages.  Notice the common continuity. My signed LP's on my Eagles page are in released order and are purposely separate.

Nice try Bubba....................good grief.

You have now fully exposed yourself. Thank you kindly for this post.................

How are you so sure it's not one of yours? Out of the hundreds you have, surely a few have slipped through the cracks.. do you think the autographs are authentic or forgeries?
