What kind of genius would meet Paul McCartney and ask for him to sign a baseball anyway? In addition to it just being odd, it's not like he routinely signs the things, so you'll probably get an unusual example at best.

The same type of genius that has baseballs signed by various world leaders that end up in Presidential Libraries and museums i suppose.

I kind of get the novelty factor, but given McCartney's body of work and the fact that baseballs are probably not the most common thing to get signed . . . I'd rather have him sign a flat anything. Even a piece of paper.

I understand why you get presidents on baseball's because they threw out the whole first pitch, or even like tom hanks or charlie sheen who did baseball movies but to get anybody else i just never understood that...but whatever floats your boat!

Mccartney sells out baseball stadiums . Haha . Jk . There is a huge market for autographs on baseballs or golf balls . I know a guy who only collects signed baseballs by hollywoods stars , music, authors, astronauts , football players , etc . If there wasnt a market for it then nobody would get them signed .

My cousin was once a Secret Service agent in the White House, and offered to have to get a photo, that I had recently purchased of G,W, Bush throwing out a 1st pitch at Baltimore's Memorial Stadium, signed by taking it to work. I thanked him for the offer, and gave him a MLB baseball instead. He blushed and asked why...I told him, because you can't sign a curved surface using an auto-pen!!! ... Never did get that baseball back!

Agreed, I have never seen his autograph on a baseball before.
I could see him making very little effort to sign a legible autograph especially if on the run.

The "Paul" and the "M" have the signs of the way McCartney signs to me. Again, rough but it's on a baseball, which he's not used to signing.
I think that if an authenticator thinks an autograph is genuine it's their duty to certify it as such. Let the marketplace decide what it's worth.

I can't find one example that can even, with squinted eyes, come close to being similar. Just my opinion, though, and hey, what do I know?!? ha ha
Thx for weighing in. I thought the ball was laughable, but if I have found out one thing about autographs it's this: There will ALWAYS be someone to say "that looks good," and always someone to say "that looks like garbage." No matter WHAT the autograph in question is.
Without an LOA, I truly believe this ball would have gotten pulled as fake, but again, who am I to say?
