Thom’s a really good guy. I met him at one of his concerts for his band at a stop in St Louis back in 2014. Unfortunately it had a very small turnout. I was like one of 10 people in the crowd. Anyway, I bought a CD from him at his merch table after the performance and he asked me my name and I apologized for the low turnout. I felt embarrassed about it but he was totally cool about it and said he hadn’t been in St Louis for a show before so he wasn’t surprised but that he was actually coming back in 2 months to play another show. I told him I would be there and bring friends and then I left.

Fast forward 2 months, I show up with some buddies at his next show and he immediately recognizes me. I didn’t have to say a word and didn’t have a chance before he saw me, Points at me and says “Geoff!” and walks right over and gave me a hug and then introduced himself to my friends. He remembered my name. I was very surprised. This was just before he took the stage. This show had a nice crowd this time, which was cool. It was better promoted.

But here’s the thing. From that night forward, he knew me. He reaches out privately and gives me a heads up before he schedules his shows to let me know when he will be back in town again. He came here a few years back to do a Wizard World and he put my wife and I on his guest list. I didn’t ask. He just wanted to do it. He doesn’t That is just who who he is. He’s as good as they come as a person.
