Ok, I just got jeter ball at a decent price because one side of the ball is toning yellow. Should I leave it alone or maybe remove the toning with lemon juice or tooth paste? Thoughts on trying to remove toning from a ball?
Personally, I'd leave it be. As the saying goes: "sh** happens" as what happened to my ball when I sent it to Yogi.
But if you were to do it, definitely dont use anything like toothpaste, bleach or chemicals like that.
Lemons have alum in the juice, so if you want a "natural" way to remove the toning, lemon juice directly from a lemon would do it. I don't recommend removing toning from an autographed ball though. If something else occurs to the ball during the process, the value would drop dramatically especially if the signature itself is compromised.
Off coloring and some damage. I thought about fixing it up but the risks outweigh the reward In fixing it. Same for your situation. Toning gives the ball a nice vibe anyway and is bound to happen to any ball that is exposed to light at all (every ball) so long it could be stopped during our lifetime it isn't that bad.
Leave it alone John. It won't bother you as much as it does now when you add to your collection. It will bother you if you attempt to improve the baseball and make it worse.
