As an avid film buff, I always like to look around for some movie posters to add to my collection. I see these posters on eBay all the time, but I have never bought one. Basically they are stamped and hologrammed by a studio representative at one of the premiers and that is supposed to authenticate the autographs of the cast attending that premier. Does anyone know anything about this process?
Here are a few examples from recent movies:
Star Trek : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Trek-Into-Darkness-DS-Movie-Poster-CAS...
Iron Man 3: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Iron-Man-3-DS-Movie-Poster-CAST-SIGNED-Prem...
Fast 6: http://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Fast-and-Furious-6-DS-Movie-Poster-CAST...
They're definitely fake, at least the ones you linked to are.
The hologram is a pretty recent development. I've noticed that the hologram sticker on each poster is the same, with the logo (where applicable) applied on top. I've seen a couple of different logos used for "signed" Iron Man 3 one-sheets.
I've also noticed other inconsistencies: The Star Trek listing, for example features the US version of the one-sheet (note the release date) that wouldn't be distributed in Australia. There's also an Iron Man 3 listing that claims to be from the US premiere, but shows a UK one-sheet. While looking through some of the sellers other listings, I saw a Wolverine US one-sheet for an alleged UK premiere.
The event stamp is also the same for nearly every listing I've looked at with the top line changed to whatever suits the listing.
Also, there's absolutely no evidence that the hologram on the ST sheet is "from Paramount".
This may be the scammiest scam that has ever scammed. Save your money.
