Hello, this is my first post in the forum so any help would be great!
My question is this...I am heading to Cooperstown this summer for induction weekend. While there I will be attending some autograph sessions. I want to get Maddux Glavine and Smoltz being I grew up a Braves fan. Do you guys think it would be better to have them all sign one jersey(the hall of fame jersey players wear on the day the HOF announcements are made) or have them each sign their own individual jersey? Thank you in advance for your thoughts!
My initial thoughts: What ink will you be using? Ink on fabric can be tricky and not always good contrast.
How much wall space do you have?
How much do you want to spend on framing?
On the other hand...
If you have several, you can sell a few - the single is a one shot deal.
I attached a picture of the HOF jersey that I would be using. I would be using a blue sharpie. Wall space is limited because I already have a nice collection of signed jerseys, however the collection does not include Maddux Glavine or Smoltz. Framing cost wouldn't be an issue either way.
Well, do you have other multi-signed? You might be breaking up a theme - or adding diversity. ;)
I don't have any other multi signed. That's why I thought it would be a pretty unique piece to have. My biggest concern was probably how the ink would look on the front of a jersey as compared to on the number of the individual ones.
Well I’m not an expert by any means, but these names are all hall of famers and pretty big names in the 90s and early 2000s. In my opinion these three together would make a great theme because of the team fame: braves(tbs viewership), synonym-is name as a group, and stats they put up. What I learned from experience multi signed items can lose value if the names and signatures are not similar in stature. But these are. For example if you have a teddy hall of famer signature which is worth 100 dollars and joe average signature which is worth 30 dollars; the overall value of the piece is usually close to the halfway price of the two. With these names, I believe you can not go wrong as a grouping or individuals. It would be personal preference on your part. This is just my two cents.
Thanks that is exactly what I was thinking. It would be pretty cool to have all those guys on one Hall of Fame jersey. I think I will make my choice when I get out to Cooperstown in May and actually see the HOF jersey and what kind of material it is. If I think the autographs will look good on it I will go with it!
I have a bunch of signed jerseys. Signing the numbers seem to hold up better for me. Some ink on the material of the jersey sometimes bleed. Just my two cents.
That was my biggest concern...I don't want to spend the money for the jersey and the autographs and have it come out looking bad.
