If you’re asking the question because of the smearing, the smear would not stop me from buying it...depending on price, of course. You bring up a good point too. That partial print is likely from Ruth provided this is authentic, and that’s kind of cool to think about. And it’s likely authentic since it appears to have been encapsulated.
The smearing, to me anyway, isn’t so bothersome particularly due to its position on the item. It comes at the very end rather than in the middle which would be more problematic.
The positive attributes far outweigh the negative. It’s a cool piece commemorating 100 years of baseball with a small picture of Ruth. It’s a very nice, bold autograph excluding the smears.
It would have to be deeply discounted over a perfect one for me to consider it. Likely without the smear, it is a $5000 + item but to me it would only be half of that with the smear. Just my opinion, of course.
