George O. Petrie (1912-1997) is one of those character actors that you know the face but not necessarily the name. He was in many episodes of The Honeymooners with Jackie Gleason. Petrie was in two episodes of The Andy Griffith Show first in 1962 in the "Crime Free Mayberry" episode and 1964 in "A Deal is a Deal." He appeared in two episodes of original The Addams Family and one of The Munsters. He was George Haskell in Leave it to Beaver. Petrie concentrated almost exclusively on television although was in some movies. His first movie was Winged Victory in 1944 along with another TAGS alumni Henry Slate. He was in the Steve Martin and John Candy comedy Planes, Trains and Automobiles in 1987. He perhaps is best known as Harv Smithfield in Dallas appearing in 51 episodes along with the 1996 movie. He also had a role as Sid the elevator operator on Mad About You. He appeared in The Twilight Zone, Night Court, Gunsmoke, Maude, and many others. He is a fairly uncommon autograph. This is from a signed note probably from the early 1980s.
