This group is for those interested in The Andy Griffith Show and all cast and crew.

My intention here is to have people upload authentic autographs of actors and actresses that have appeared on the "Andy Griffith Show." This is a bit of a daunting task since this show had many more episodes per season than modern television. The first season of "TAGS" had a whopping 39 episodes. Well over 500 actors appeared in various roles on the show during its run.  Of course many that appeared were in uncredited roles. Many others played various characters and "extra" parts.   Internet Movie Data Base is the most useful tool and anyone interested in more information on the actors/actresses should check there. Colin Male is listed as being in one episode, but he was also the voice-over announcer in 65 episodes. For my purposes in my personal collecting I count him only for this actual onscreen appearance.  So I hope this group will spawn some renewed interest in this wonderful show and the many great stars that appeared  on it.  Also hopefully we can add some interesting trivia about the show and stars.  If people have met stars from the show would love to hear those accounts as well.  Hopefully this will be as friendly and warm as Mayberry itself.

There were many movie and television stars that appeared as guest stars (though never called that on the show) on TAGS.   Hopefully others will add their autographs of stars like Buddy Ebsen, Charlie Ruggles, Edgar Buchanan, Everett Sloane, Alan…Continue

I am starting this in hopes people will add their real Andy Griffith autographs and the Linke "secretarial" ones for comparison.  Since the death of Andy Griffith I have noticed a growing appreciation of the man and actor.  He was much more than…Continue

One interesting thing about the show is that some characters are so strong you think they were in scores of episodes yet, in reality, they were in very few. Of the 249 episodes (250 if you count the Pilot which I do) filmed only Andy himself…Continue

I have changed the title of this from MR. SCHWUMP THE SILENT ACTOR to the above title.  I am going to try to include here actors and actresses who appeared in mostly (but not all) in uncredited roles on the show.  If anyone has exemplars for these…Continue

FOURTH ANNIVERSARY OF THIS GROUP!  I started this group in 2013 with the intent to educate and inform collectors.  I hope that in some small measure this has been a helpful forum to people.  I really want to thank all the members of this group for being members.  Everyone who has commented or posted autographs I really thank you and appreciate it greatly.  If the Andy Griffith Signature Study has helped just one person avoid a bad autograph it is worth it.  I want to thank Tim Henderson and Gary Wedemeyer for posting some great autographs from their collections.  My friend Christopher Williams has encouraged me and it is greatly appreciated, and am proud of him for his fight to combat forgers.  Frank Johnson has been a great help with the signature study along with Gary.  I thank all the members of the group and anyone that has enjoyed just looking at the autographs.  Finally, I want to thank Mr. Crykin for the website and his support of the collecting community.

It is such a timeless show! the only autos I have of the cast is George goober Lindsey and a stamped auto of jim nabors. I also got an autograph picture from the actress who played Darlene darling about a year ago but do not remember her name.

I am saddened by the amount of forged signatures being sold on eBay and the Internet in general. My particular area of expertise is the Andy Griffith Show. The amount of forged Griffith signatures is mind-boggling. I'm estimating around 99% is pure junk.

I have been collecting and dealing in Mayberry related signatures for more than 30 years. Most signatures you see were obtained through the mail and were signed by Andy's long-time personal Manager, Richard. O. Linke. I learned this fact from Mr. Linke himself.

It is very hard to find one authentic signed photo of Mr. Griffith. Some sellers routinely sell "signed" photos. It is plain and simple forgery. I have contacted many of the sellers and voiced my concerns. Some have been honorable and removed their bogus items. Some tell me to mind my own business.

All you have to do is look at the photos being offered on eBay. They vary from seller to seller. Even the same seller's autographs differ. Some will have an upper case "G" while some will have a lower case "g". Sometimes the "h" is continued to cross the "t". Sometimes it is not. While signatures vary with time and age, the basic structure is still the same.

Granted there are a few authentic signed photos out there but they are very rare. Most authentic signed Griffith photos are not shots from the TV show. They are  studio portrait photos and most always inscribed to someone. Your best bet to get an authentic signature is to purchase one of his personal checks. They pop up from time to time.

Mr. Griffith never attended any reunion show or autograph show. So if a seller tells you he got the signature at an event like that, they are being dishonest. Mr. Griffith did on occasion make public appearances but was very secluded. He had his own people with him and was very much protected.

Also beware of sellers who use the "Private Feedback" and "Private Auction" options. By using these options unsuspecting bidders can not be alerted to bogus items. I am very proud of my feedback and want as many people to see it as possible. Certificates of Authenticity (COA) mean absolutley nothing. If you'll fake an autograph what would keep you from faking a COA.

The bottom line is try to educate yourself on any item you are looking to buy. Search the Internet for other examples. Ask questions of your seller. An honest seller will be happy to field any questions and/or concerns you have about their item.

Hey everybody. I'm a new member on this forum and wanted to introduce myself. I've been collecting and dealing in "Mayberry" related signatures for over 30 years. It's the best show ever in my opinion. I've been fortunate enough to have met many of the performers from the show. I have or have had just about any autograph from the show you could think of. I buy and sell from time to time on eBay. My user name is andyfan1. It's always good to talk with other "andyfan's" about this great TV show. Take care - Gary

I couldn't get into RFD. I disliked Sam. I couldn't get into the color episodes, disliked Warren...(greatly). I guess for me the first 3 seasons were the best.

I just have the dvds but when it is on TV I always watch it no matter how many times I have seen it.  I loved that and Mayberry R.F.D. and The New Andy Griffith Show.  Sadly the new Andy Griffith Show never took off they even had Barney do an episode and Goober and Emmett.  I was so sad when they cancelled it and you cannot find it on dvd.  Think it was only 13 episodes.
