Hi all,

Sean Connery is a difficult autograph. He is heavily forged, used numerous secretaries, hates signing and even at the best of times has a super sloppy autograph.

Id love to try and dig a little deeper and perhaps even come up with a bit of a guide to help people with Connery autographs given their value and durability.

  • I know he signed fairly freely in the 60's in blue or black thin biro.
  • I know he released his book 'Being a Scot' and signed many first editions using one of two different style bookplates.
  • I know even Rittenhouse who release official Bond collectable cards rely on cuts from his signed books.
  • I know that one of the most common Connery autographs is what I term the 'charity signed' autograph which features in either black or blue thick texta 'Best wishes Sean Connery' (fairly) neatly.. and yet as mentioned in Greg's thread in this forum, noone and no seller has any further info about these charity signings.. eg when, where and for what charity- although I do note that many originate from a European seller.
  • Finally, I know that his autograph varies significantly depending on setting, year and... erm... mood.

What I would love to do is have people post pics of their guaranteed authentic Connery autographs, or alternatively provide any facts/insight info they have about collecting Connery.

So, does anyone have a Sean Connery autograph or know anything they could share?

Cheers!

this is a good start for compiling  information about Connery sigs

Unfortunately I can't add much at this time

But here is my Sean Connery autograph and an original 1965 photo to compliment it

Thats nice man! A classic and beautiful Connery signature. Great to see a bit of handwriting too. Can I ask the story behind it?

odd but no real story came with it.

One of the many that got passed around and ended up on ebay and was seen by trusted eyes on here before I bought it. Not bad for $140

Luv your Connery sigs as well.

I can't believe how many forgeries are flooding the market now. And can only assume they will increase in value since he's retired and away from the hollywood scene or interviews

Yeah you did well! Absolutely awesome.

Its funny how, despite the different situations/decades the same characteristics are still present in all of them.

Yep, and I think worse still is that there are so many secretarials people are selling genuinely believing them to be real...  along with all the normal forgeries. If I had enough cash to burn I'd be trying to snatch up as many authentic Connery's as I could at the moment- Bond is not going anywhere and with a new film due out end of new year it will only reinvigorate the market.

Bond is definitely a great investment (especially Connery) and will be around for generations I believe

Let's not forget the Bond girls haha

Eunice Gayson girl #1

Haha for sure! I can’t wait to see what they do with the next one after Spectre. But yeah- Connery will always be the pick.

Thats great- Eunice is where it all started! That’s an awesome classic pic too.

Haha Bond girls are a dangerous collection to begin- you’d never stop!

Here's the only one I own, to 'Alan' as well! Hopefully looking to add to my collection if possible;) This was acquired by a security guard who dealt with VIPs at Heathrow airport in the early 90s.

Here are two from my collection. Both come from signed bookplates, both the red rimmed one and the alternate w&n plate.

Many, many in-persons and a few ordered directly from European conventions.  All are so noted on my page.  May be of help..............
