My wife and I were excited to see that ZZ Top and Aerosmith teamed up on a tour this summer and immediately purchased tickets to the show. ZZ Top has a special place in my heart because my father looked just like Billy Gibbons and his last concert he went to was ZZ Top. We arrived early enough to meet up with the tour manager and secure our backstage passes. We weren’t able to get into Aerosmith as that was earlier but we did get to meet ZZ Top. The meet and greet was in between performances so we watched ZZ Top from 7th row center and I have to tell you, these guys are still amazing. The sound was great and their performance sounded like I was listening to their CD, nailing every note and adding some of that special ZZ flair! They played the whole set in glittered black suits and as expected, switched to their fur covered guitar/bass.
After their performance we proceeded back stage to the meet n greet. We were given a facsimile signed playbill and then had our photos taken with the band professionally. I love that they did individual photos instead of that group shot a lot of meet n greets offer. After that we got back in line to get our autographs. They offered either a nice 8x10 photo provided by them or your own item(s). I of course opted for my own items. I was able to get 9 albums signed by all 3 members as well as a ‘weird beard’ poster signed. Those of you unaware of the weird beard poster are in for a treat when I list it. Each member had a great reaction to the poster with Frank stating that’s his favorite…um…poster. As usual, we try to go above and beyond here at Autograph Pros to offer you the best in authentication so we even video taped EVERY album and poster of ours being signed so count on 100% rock solid proof for each ZZ Top autograph we’ll be offering.
After the meet and greet we went back to our seats and watched Aerosmith light up the building with electricity. Unfortunately I wasn’t impressed with the sound quality from our seats but sometimes the sound guys are at the end of the floor and adjust to their ears, while us up front suffer. The performance was intense and while the sound wasn’t the best, it wasn’t all that bad. I ended up with some incredible photos and a few videos of the concert which we will offer for sale so if you are an Aerosmith fan, definitely contact us. We have some great rare stuff. No autographs as I didn’t have it in me to wait around after the show. It had been a long day for us so we called it an early night.
