I have your letter of resignation dated March 13, 1970 which was submitted on the occasion of your retirement from active military service, to be effective March 31, 1970.

 

In accepting your resignation, I want to expressto you my most sincere thanks for the valuable contribution you have made during the past three and one-half years in the successful formulation and implementationof United States arms controland disarmament policy and for your long and distinguished career in the Armed Services.

 

In particular I congradulate you on clarifying the role that the U.S. Intelligencecommunity should play in developing verification requirements for arms control agreements, and for opening avenues of cooperation  between the Arms Control and Disarmament Agency and Intelligence community.
