Hi,

Is there anyone here that can give me an opinion on this Ronald Reagan signature?  I'm not sure if this is real / autopen / or secretarial.  I'm suspicious about it.

I enlarged the attachment for you.

Trevor,

I am sending a March 27, 1969, autograph from Reagan so you can compare yours with mine.  I do not know if mine is a secretary signed or not.

Hi Ronald,

They look different in my opinion.  Would the content of the letter give any clues to the authenticity?  I know that's probably a long shot.  The content of the letter I have is just a typical thank you letter for serving at a state level position (Citizens Advisory Committee on Aging) and that a press announcement for a replacement would be announced shortly.

Trevor,

The letter is in response to one I wrote to Reagan telling him how much I enjoyed a trip to California in 1968.  I would guess that mine is a secretarial autograph.

Ronald

This is either authentic or AutoPen, in my opinion. To narrow it down that last step, you or someone will need to compare your autograph to all "Known AutoPen Examples." If not there, it's mostly good. The exception and reason I said "most likely" is that there is always a chance of auto-pen that isn't yet known to be auto-pen. That's highly unlikely for Reagan after all this time.

Hope this helps and sorry for the lack of YES or NO. But, in my opinion only, this is almost positively auto-pen IF the letter generic and to an unknown person. It is almost positively genuine IF to a friend or well-known person or if not generic.
Best,
David Campbell
