With the recent passing of the actor who gave us one of the most recognized characters in history of the world, I thought it was worth tossing these samples in one place where people can look at known authentic pieces. Leonard Nimoy had so many ways to sign his name that it makes it extremely difficult to authenticate the random items that will now flood the market.

I absolutely love these...especially the one with Zach Quinto. Never have seen that piece. Here is one that I got at Wizard Wold a couple of years ago. I had the William Shatner VIP and was able to get him to sign it in person. However, the Leonard Nimoy was pre-signed since he had already stopped working Cons. I've yet to get it framed but hope to eventually.

Thoughts on this one.  The "L" just seems a little strange to me.  But I see example of some above that look like it.  This was signed about 4 months at a private signing by FanBoy.  What are your thoughts??  I am going to add Shatner soon and want to make sure on the Nimoy first.

Thanks - and if this is not the place to put this post -

Mark

Here is my signed bookplate I bought  from a reputable dealer

very nice and unique, Lou!

Here are my 3 that I'd like to share.

Mike, you are truly fortunate to have 3 of his autographs! I only have one!

Hello Everyone,

Joining some Groups - new here. This one looks good for me :)

I have an early example - I know, I need to make a larger scan. He signed it "Greetings from Spock" as well as "Leonard Nimoy". Only once before have I seen "Spock" on a vintage piece and that was the earlier printed paper 8x10's. The story he used to tell about being called "Leonard Nimsy" I believe was self-caused. His earlier signatures do appear to read "Nimsy".

I went after the earliest in character images I could find - three are signed in character (Spock, McCoy and Scotty). The Kelley was one of two - this 5x7 and an 8x10 both made out to the on-set nurse. She was leaving. The 8x10 had an off color joke about Kelley having to pull his pants down (for a shot) whenever she came around and I did not like that - and my main crew are all 5x7 (Kirk, Spock, McCoy). The McCoy is signed "Dr. McCoy" only - no De Kelley. Not seen that much at all. There was another in this lot where Kelley tried to sign for Nimoy who was absent, even using his own (Kelley's) favored green fountain ink pen (preferred by Kelley since the 40's) I assume to evoke Spock's green blood - but it was Kelley's hand obviously. All from eBay - all for hardly nothing. Proud of this little set!

The cast signed items from the 80's/90's are almost all in paint pen - gold or silver - and I do not like that medium although it pleases many others and can provide excellent contrast. For me, it bleeds into itself and everyone else seems to have it. It all looks so generic. I prefer vintage even with condition issues, if not major. Authentication by me. I know, bigger images! But this gives an idea. I have since added a 1968 Majel Barret and a Langley Litho to finish this off.

Hope you enjoy! Eric
