North Callaway High School in Kingdom City, MO utilized the "Writing For A Reason" project to procure celebrity collectibles that were auctioned off to bidders. The fundraiser was organized to raise funds for the schools Future Business Leaders of America program. The idea came from a fellow classmate, Phillip Collette, who used a donated copy of "Reaching For Your Star I" the year before. Following the steps outlined in the book and using the addresses included, Phillip and other classmates organized one of the largest celebrity auctions ever seen in this small rural community to raise funds for a classmate suffering from leukemia. The event raised over $25,000.
