Simon Wiesenthal (Butschatsch, 31 December 1908 – Vienna, 20 September 2005) was an Austrian engineer and writer of Jewish origin. A Holocaust survivor, he dedicated much of his life to gathering information on fugitive Nazis in order to track them down and put them on trial, earning him the nickname "Nazi hunter".
