I met Marie Callender when I was sent to her home, in the mid to late 80's, to check her alarm after she had accidentally set it off. She asked me if I had time for a cup of fresh coffee, and of course I said yes! We talked about how she started her business for a few minutes and then I jokingly asked her if I could get her pie crust recipe! She said something about how they didn't make the pies like she used to and grabbed a pad of paper and a pen and to my surprise and delight, she began writing the recipe down! I had been collecting autographs for about a year and I had the presence of mind to ask her if she would sign her name at the bottom? I know it's not worth a lot of money, but the experience in meeting someone that most people think is only a brand name and not a real person, is, as they say, "priceless."
