What would you like to tell us about yourself, your collecting, or business.

Small-time dealer back in the day. I had a table at the 1991, 12th National Sports Collectors Convention in Anaheim, Ca. It put the collector's industry on the map. In-house authenticators charged $5 for each item. I met W. Gretzky, N. Ryan, M. Jordan, Ali, and Montana, who were scheduled to sign but no one really expected them to show. They did. I had my pic taken with E. Smith, S. Musial, G. Howe, E. Shavers, and many more. It was the largest show at the time, a real 'guys' dream. E. Shaver shook my hand and almost broke my fingers, my wrist, and slightly twisted my elbow which put a smile on my face for a week. I am 75 now and have an enormous collection from that era.

What are your favorite collecting groups, communities and clubs?

I receive emails from some of the auctions and cards showing places. Amazon and eBay have made card autograph sessions obsolete. I can enjoy the whole deal at home now. I collect all sports. I have found that collections are all about time, authentication, and not buying because of today's hype of 1 seasons stats. You can build a career on talent, but tear it all down with bad character. There are no clubs in my area. A few have come and then left for lack of competitive pricing online.

Why do you collect?

A 'layaway' program for my children who share my passion. I have a lot of wall space to fill and display. It brings me pleasure and will bring a healthy dollar of inheritance for my children. My son carries on with the current-day heroes. My daughters calculate its worth, while my wife tolerates my hobby with a smile.

What is your favorite autograph in your collection?

I hold all in the highest esteem.
