A Lawyer, no. Analytical and scientific, yes that would be me.
Sorry, I meant Steve S not Chris. But you caught that Steve.
That's the reason why sellers of forgeries are so successful; they count on people who know nothing about autographs for their sales. I have always stated that 80% of the people who buy autographs, know absolutely nothing about autographs. Those 80% go shopping in a mall and observe a store selling autographs; all of a sudden, they "desire" an autograph and the owner of the store shows them a COA with the word "Forensic" in it and the buyer immediately thinks of the show "CSI" and they are convinced it is authentic.
Sad but true.
Yup...that's the scam, Chris.
Thanks for the info Mike.
I just would like to close this discussion by saying that I got a refund for these forgeries. The manager of the antique mall was upset that there were vendors potentially selling fakes and forgeries and was going to investigate herself. When she asked how I knew they were forgeries, I referenced Autograph Magizine, and said that you guys were my source of information. Thanks you everyone who made comments on this discussion.
Very happy to hear you got a refund, Steve. And kudos to the antique mall manager for taking the problem seriously. Glad we were able to help. Keep coming back whenever you need opinions.
