No, I didn't spend Black Friday shopping for autographs and memorabilia. I slept in. I woke up 30 minutes ago, and ate some leftovers. Ahhhhh....life is good.
But I saw this collectable that I couldn't pass up on blogging about.
The Navy plans to give away the retired aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy. Yes, you heard correctly. "Give away".
Sure, a Kennedy signature (no matter how sloppy and hard to read he always made it), would be a nice stocking stuffer. But seeing an aircraft carrier in the drive-way, with a big bow around it...that would win you "parents of the year" awards.
They'd like to give it to a museum or memorial. And, the winner does get the ship for free, but ya don't get free shipping. You're in charge of bring the 1,050 foot vessel from Philadelphia, to your place of residence.
"Big John" as it was known (please refrain from any Marilyn Monroe jokes here) was the last conventionally powered aircraft carrier built by the Navy. It entered service in 1968. It was decomissioned in 2007.
Good luck and Merry Christmas.
