Muhammid Ali & Tim Tebow...Who Charges More?

Living in San Diego, I hear more Padres news than I care to. But out in Peoria, Arizona for the pre-season, the Padres were greeted by boxing legend Muhammad Ali. Tony Gwynn Jr, who has met some big names, seemed thrilled, saying "It's the first time I've ever been star-struck."

Only a few players got autographs of the living legend.

Across the U.S. in Jacksonville, Florida, Tim Tebow, who created a bit of controversy with his Super Bowl commercial, isn't even expected to go very high in the NFL draft. But a crowd of 1,500 showed up at a mall, to pay $160 for an autograph, with a portion of the proceeds going to his foundation. Tebow was quoted as saying "It's an honor to have people want to want you and want to have your autograph and want to be around you."

Yeah. Tell that to Ben Roethlesberger (that QB great of the Steelers is currently being investigated for a second rape charge).

Tebow added, "That's special to have an opportunity to sign for people, but it's more special to be able to do things like we're doing and being able to really just brighten kids' days in really their darkest hour of need, which is a lot of what my foundation is about."

Josh, you forgot to mention that Tebow was offering to take photos with people for $75 a pop. You know, I don't care if (some) of the money is for charity... If somebody spends $160 for an autograph, the least the celeb can do is take a picture for free.

Ya know what, Scott. To me, if you are charging $160 for an autograph, you should be giving ALL that money to charity. Or, you should at least say "90% of that goes to charity." To say "some of it" goes to his foundation, well hell, that can be a tiny amount and he just made a killing!
Amazing to think you'd have to cough up another $75 for a photo. Outrageous. Especially for a QB that's going to go in the 2nd round, possibly third!

I know that Ali sells his autograph online on his website for something like $1500.00. But I picked up a football signed by about 30 of the Florida football team including Tebow for my boss and I paid $200.00 for the football. Yes it's legit because I know the people that do these in Florida. Of course I am an Alabama fan myself so if they want to pay that more power to them.
