Over the past 2-3 months I have been receiving an abundances of Willie Mays signed Major League baseballs with the "Say Hey" Hologram for autograph authentication. I have recently been passing on authenticating these baseballs.
These baseballs are all in near mint condition and have a very nice, clear Willie Mays signature on the sweet spot in blue ink. The signatures are all very similar and I understand they are available by the dozen. I have started a file and have been taking notes and doing some research on the origins of these signed baseballs. In most cases I have been noticing the holograms are nor affixed properly to the baseballs. If anyone could help with some examples or information on the "Say Hey" holograms or Foundation please join in.

I think that's actually common for that particular hologram to look that way.

Mike, these indeed are all similar, and strange.  I understand and share your concern.

Here are just a few I just was sent for review that are on ebay right now...

I tried to write a comment but...I know this is an old thread but got an email today someone is saying there expecting those stickers from Mr Mays in the mail and did a signing with him 2 months ago. No I dont believe this but it shows someone has extra stickers they can put on whatever they want.

These are coming from a dealer in California who had bought a ton of Mays pieces and is flipping them. Not that it means anything but I know JSA and PSA/DNA have both authenticated this signature.

Here are photo's of the hologram that is on my personal piece that is Authenticated by PSA/DNA hopefully it helps.

Would you know the dealers name? What price is the dealer you are speaking of sellIng them for? I saw a dozen today that was purchased at an auction in Northern Florida for $400  I know that everyone has been authenticating these Mays baseballs. I do not know if that is because they are only seeing a few at a time?

I don't know the dealer personally but I can find out. I have a friend of mine that had bought a bunch of balls as well as photo's as well as Ted Williams with the Green Diamond hologram and took everything to PSA/DNA (about 150 pcs) and they authenticated them all. I don't know what he paid but I know he was selling the balls after the fact for $60 a piece with PSA/DNA coa.

At a NYC show I spoke to a dealer buddy of mine about 6 months ago ans was told to avoid anything with these holograms on them as a bunch of fakes have been turned up. With in 20 minutes I walked passed a table with around 500 16x20s of "the catch" photos for sale for $30 with say hey holos. I suspect this is why I was warned there seemed to be an abundance of items with just the holo on them at the show.

I was really wanting a Mays ball about a month ago, and I saw some of these and thought to myself "These almost look too perfect"...

I am waiting on a call from Willie Mays agent with some more information shortly, but I am sure there is a major problem going on here!

Hmmm This is mine. It has the hologram and jsa cert. Either there are a lot of good fakes or Mays signed a lot. Could be both....
