Note:  11/3/2011  THREAD RULEs;

1. If You are gonna post a picture in this Thread then PLEASE leave it POSTED.  When there is commentary for it or comparisons & then removed the Thread overall has a problem and many, including me, don't know what the heck someone is/was talking about.  If it's a personally owned one then put a watermark on it if that's a worry.  But DON"T Delete.  I do from time to time copy them just in case but now always" . 11/3/2011

2. If you are posting an item from an "auction" site (ebay etc...) then pls post the actual picture, and then a link to it along with the "auction" or source site.  Links become dated and items disappear for a variety of reasons (12/4/2011)

As one wanders around the WWW on auction sites or blogs it is inevitable that the "secretarials" verbiage will arise.  There are many breakout discussions (see a partial list below that hopefully, I captured the greater majority of threads) and in typical fashion we deviate on many threads (which I have not captured) and throw in a secretarial here & there.

Many times the secretarials focus on the high end selling items as opposed to the mid level ones e.g. The Honeymooners.  Of course, the secretarials differ, at least in verbiage, to the Clubhouse, AutoPen or outright forgeries (there are lots of good threads on) but that is not for this discussion.

But back to the midlevel ones like Roy & Dale Evans,  Barbara Striesand,  Mary Tyler Moore or Tony Curtis to mention a few.   I will add 3 pictures of authentic ones (there may be variations) for the latter three but don't have the secretarials for a side by side (which I like to see as it provides a good visual).  Anyone have some?  So at the risk of biting off too much (if an area takes off, perhaps I can create a breakout thread for it) what are OTHER KNOWN Secretarials and their Authentic ones and why Secretarials?

Tony Curtis believed to be authentic

@Brick - posted your thread on Curtis over here as well;

Mary Tyler Moore believed to be Authentic

The above is authentic.  Most of the time I see this version which is her secretary.  Its easy to tell the difference.

Haven't rattled any cages of late especially amongst my favorite places but here are two from R&R with one seeming to match authentic and the cast one resembling the secretarial one above from my view.  Comments?

Eli, looks like your secretarial aligns pretty closely to this Anthony Nurse certified secretarial unless I am missing something....

DB, I don't think this photo signed "God Bless" is authentic.  I also don't think its a secretarial. Ive only seen Dick Van Dyke add God Bless in secretarial form but I don't think this is a secretarial.

Here is another one that has me wondering;

what's further unsettling as many of these ('cept 2) do not even come close to the 5 exemplars that are noted and implied association with in-person collector Jan Schray.

The Schray examples indicate she has either very rushed or terrible penmanship.  I can understand how some might be on the fence based on the M as there are similar characteristics with the Schray examples.  However, thats where it appears to end.  II'd be leaning toward the above R&R falling in the secretarial rather than authentic.  Could be wrong and it won't be the first time.

when I scan the hestons, I'll add Moores to this thread as well.

@Eli - there is also one for Dick Van Dyke with a God Bless as well. However, the signature doesn't align to either of the ones above.

Eli; if not a secretarial nor authentic there be one category left!  Hmmm...  Where I was drawing the comparison was on the Tyler as the Ms on first/last were very different.

do we have some additional confirmations from other members within this sub-category?  I will have to go find some of my Van Dykes now and see what they look like.

Barbara Streisand believed to be authentic
