Authenticity is Everything
Clark Gable?
Here's one I'd like to get an opinion on. It's a Gable signature on a Laszlo Willinger photo from a movie called "Strange Cargo." I've wondered about this one for a long time. I sent a photo of the autograph in to AutographCOA some time back for an online opinion. They said it was good. I'd still like to have some of your thoughts about it.
There is some guy selling copies of this exact same photo on eBay for about $10. It's the same identical signature in exactly the same spot as this signature. I've looked at this signature very closely under the lights. This signature was signed with a pen. I'd appreciate your thoughts.

I am here, as I have been, only to help people learn, avoid bad items, get returns and also how to recognize things that are...not what they seem. Selling items not properly authenticated will not get you many fans here. And do not worry about me answering your questions again.
PS - See JK's response - he also had no idea that eBay item was yours. An amazing coincidence...
PSS - Asking for assistance with an item you are selling is...asking for assistance with an item you are selling. I know, it is shocking.

It's a matte double-thick photo paper with some wear around a couple of the edges

I figured oput the part about looking at the signature under the light on my own. I have a Fred Astaire photo Authenticated by JSA that has absolutely nothing that differentiates it from the paper it's on whatsoever. It has to be a copy. But it has a COA!

Live ink determination is not easy for some. It should change color under a light - in the glare. For example, blue Sharpie will appear orange - a preprint will not do this.

If the ink has no depth or dimension and does not show a different color in the glare and also disappears in the glare into the photo you have most likely have a preprint.

I have studied this particular photo, the autograph, and Mr. Gable's genuine signature quite extensively. I think this is the real deal. I took the photos under a yellow tinted desk lamp. The signature is etched into the photopaper. Somebody signed it. Like I said earlier, there's some guy on eBay selling copies of this exact same photograph for about $10.

That makes sense. Normal light. If it looks etched it might be some kind of facsimile.

So you have one, POP is selling one, and there are prints on eBay.
2/3 of them are a problem.
