I'm not sure which is more checkered - PSA/DNA QO or their results.

Seems gridiron has some good and some not so good reports depending on who one believes;

it seems troubling to think this item would not pass a QO.  Perhaps too much variation in the signature.  Nonetheless, with the documentation being provided on provenance one might not take the QO this time around.

The only item problem is that they are displaying a sample and not the actual cert.

Yea either way I'm capping this auction @ 300, because via sure shots I can score the same thing, AND they are having a show nov 3-5 with auth houses in attendance so I can cuss them out in person if it fails, plus they have an awesome line up of sports stars going. (the helmet is probably going to the show no matter what and getting authed, this is ultimately going to be a Christmas present and I'd rather not find out a few years from now it's bogus)

Thanks for the take. I was kind of wondering the same about the QO where they gave no reason, so I'm thinking it's more of a "the seller doesn't show original pics of the product so it's probably fake".

As far as the Different views, I've found 3 ripoff report complaints about failed authentications, along with some people saying gridiron had some sort of feud with JSA/PSA and that's why their stuff doesn't pass

But overall, here and elsewhere the majority of collectors seem to love them, and it seems to be mostly other newbies like me that feel burned.

I've been under the impression that Gridiron Authentics is solid.

I looked up the Favre and Starr stuff.  Strange to see Favre items lacking the Favre hologram, nor would I think that such items would be particularly appealing.  Not saying they're fake, but it's bizarre.

Gronk's helmet has been removed; This listing (380488670562) has been removed, or this item is not available

and I suspect not necessarily due to authenticity but violation of ebay's policy on posting the accurate coa.

I'm not sure if they report it to Ebay, kind of shady if so because I paid for the QO, so if ebay was to use the QO to take a pass on the process of dispute resolution (ultimately keeping their other customers from getting burned so they'll continue to use ebay) that would be kind of scummy

There is absolutly NO WAY that Gridiron is selling authentic signatures. I bought about 30 items from them a little over a year ago for a charity auction for a local boy that had cancer. I took them to PSA/DNA to be authenticated and every single one of them came back to be NOT authentic. The items included Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Terry Bradshaw, Peyton Manning and several others. I was told by PSA/DNA that they are notorious for selling bad autographs. They do offer a coa with a photo of the athlete signing however some of those photo's on the coa are 10-15 years old. I was told that what they do is go to a show and get various items signed in the back room and take photo's but use those photo's on other items and not the authentic ones.

What seems to be amazing is that they have an endless supply of Tom Brady signed Super Bowl game balls as well as other items. But what's even more amazing is the fact that ebay continues to allow these items for sale on all 6 of the Gridiron accounts. These people are making a killing selling these Brady game balls for $300-$500 a pop but it never seems like they ever get pulled down by ebay Nor do the thousands of other Non authentic Un authenticaed items listed on ebay. Look at their completed listing from the past and count the Brady balls that were sold and that is a small fraction of what they have sold over the past few years.

I have found this website to be informative for the most part however it is also lopsided. I think instead of 2 authenticators bickering back and forth about who said what and who has the bigger sack that they should use their time fighting the tens of thousands of non authentic Not authenticated items as well as all of the crap that Gridiron is selling. That is in no way an attack on anyone so take it the wrong way. This guy does need to be stopped and if someone can show me 1 authentic item he is actually selling I will eat crow..

I was bidding up to 302... was considering going higher, but was bored so I started searching for others, the average for this ball with a JSA or PSA COA was 800-1200. Plus I got to thinking, if you're going to hold a superbowl 36 ball for 10 years, why not stash it somewhere and wait for it to be worth some real bucks? I mean, once Brady gets enshrined those should be worth several times the 325 they sold it for (several sites even went so far as to say a signed superbowl 36 game ball is the holy grail of Brady goods short of game used Brady gear) The Gronk helmet might have been shadier than face value. I think they did something to get it pulled on themselves, as it's now listed purely as a BIN item for almost 500 bucks, and I would have been surprised to see it get over 300 on auction. I'm really debating hitting that sure shots helmet in the AM. 300 for a guy who had one of the best sophomore seasons seems a bit high, but where he should be a Patriots staple for at least a solid 7 years, it will at least retain a decent New England value regardless of whether or not he ever puts up his 2011 numbers again.

Drew,

Take a look at the completed listings from GridIron (all accounts) and you will see the amount of Brady Super Bowl footballs they have sold. The numbers are crazy, also do the math $300-$500+ per Brady ball they are making a killing and no one is doing anything about it. There is NO WAY they did a signing with Brady not to mention those Brady signatures are horrible. You lucked out by not winning that Ball but some other poor buyer did and it's a shame..

As far as sureshot and Mike (the owner) they are 100% legit and may even have an exclusive deal with Gronk if I am not mistaken. Anything you buy from them is 100% legit no questions about it.

I can't help but notice that their selection of products on Celebrity Authentics seems to have a much different price scheme. Looking at their Ebay account they move a ton of stuff. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if they deluded their reals with some phonies to up their margins

I don't get that company.  They sell the same types of celebrity autographs you can get at any given comic con or autograph show for about twice as much (or more) and advertise A List celebs (i.e. Bale and Craig) for pre-orders while apparently never actually having a solid booking.  I'm pretty sure that Bale has been advertised for 3 - 4 years and, to my knowledge, has never actually signed for them.  Craig supposedly keeps canceling/postponing.

problem rich is that not everyone has the time, patience and availability to attend the public signings. 

can't comment on the pre-orders as don't know how they acquire them or what mechanisms they use as many "dealers" use varied methods to obtain the items. 

maybe they can be invited to the thread and clear up a few things.
