Hello everyone,

I recently came across this item on ebay and thought it was pretty interesting. I am not sure of its authenticity because Kurt's signature varied so much, but if price is any kind of a give away, it looks like alot of people think its real.

If it is real, i thought it would be nice to have a scan of it here so that others could compare it too in the future since its a pretty unique piece.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for all the responses. Hopefully this will save someone alot of money. I doubt ebay will take it down, but we can only hope i guess.

It is up to $510.00 with 5 days to go!!;)

I wouldn't buy it.

Nirvana played Lawerence Kansas on Oct. 17th 1991. Dallas was on Oct. 19th. Their huge album Nevermind was less than a month old, and came out in late September 1991. Not that many people knew about them as they were still an underground band at this point, playing clubs and bars basically.

Good research Carl!! The seller provenance was that the autograph was signed on Oct 17th, 1991. 2 days before the Dallas concert on a sidewalk in Dallas. If they were playing in Kansas that day than Cobain must have a twin who was in Dallas!!!! ;)

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to give everyone an update. This item is now up to 632 dollars. with 2 days left in the auction. The seller evidently either saw this site or was told by someone that his story about the dates didnt jive, so he added this reply in his auction listing:

Please Read............

A potential buyer has brought up to my attention that Nirvana hosted a concert on October 17, 1991 in Kansas. I've been in contact with my uncle about this. His reply as follows: Almost 20 years ago it's hard to remember the exact date. I was thinking is was a couple days prior to a concert he was having in Dallas but maybe I'm wrong, maybe it was only one day prior. I just know that he was there for a concert the same weekend we were there in which we at the time had no clue about until hours after he signed for me. Hell I would have not known it was Cobain if it weren't for other people hollering at him. And hell yes we tried to go see Nirvana perform but the place was not allowing anymore people in the door.

In addition, on Halloween I had no clue how much attention this would have received if I listed it here on eBay. I want everyone to know as stated above, I guarantee this auto to pass PSA/DNA and or JSA. This was simply pulled out of storage in front of my own eyes and signed in front of his own eyes and me interested in autographs we made a non money deal. If you have any questions, please contact me. I guarantee every word and your happiness to own this Cobain piece, Thank You!!!!

So now the seller is confused on dates. That is very odd as his "uncle" named a very specific date at a very specific location and stated that he remembered it well. Now the "uncle" claims that it could have been another time and that it was a while back. Backpedaling?????????

In any event, the consensus seems to be that this autograph is fake, and their really isnt much chance it could be good. I have reported it to ebay twice, and nothing. They are using the typical PSA verbiage in the title to try and coax in buyers which should be a violation in my eyes. But anyway someone is going to be out alot of money if we cant get ebay to end this auction. I have tried all i can, but hopefully the Nirvana guys out their might be able to have more of an effect, such as J. Seah.

Thanks

Carl

Wow. His stories go all over the place. I wouldn't trust it. Not for that much money.

It is up to $996.67!!! Trust me. I have tried but Ebay would not stop the auction. :( I am sure the bid will be high as there are quite a few bidders that are on this auction.

if it is bad then won't a psa quick opinion pull it espcially since it mentions it will pass. At least in my experience a QO get's listings pulled. Id think the only way it's staying up at this point is psa might have said it was good already so ebay won't touch it. Really who would bid over 900 and not have had it checked out prior to biding
Your Request for Item "Kurt Cobain signed notepad", eBay Lot No. "181017610161", opinion was rendered at "11/5/2012 12:51:42 PM" and the result was:

Response: "Unable to Render Opinion"

I think the seller is shill bidding on his item. It is up to $1175.00 with one buyer bidding 17 times!!

Clear signs of shill bidding!!! Someone is going to be out of a lot of hard earned money.

That's what I was thinking, too.
