Another seller I've stumbled across on occasion is oilcitynights.  I've mentioned them before on this forum, as they also sell on the website autographedmusicphotos.com.

This seller appears to specialize in music photos.  I was just curious if anyone could identify some issues with them, as I've decidedly caught them in a couple lies.    Some of their auctions seem to offer "proof" photos, though none of them seem to prove anything.  They offer dates and locations for the signings, but as I'll contend below, they're complete B.S.

Exhibit A:

Garbage signed photo:

This seller is 0 for 4 on the signatures.  This looks like an example from, perhaps, the 90's.  The Shirley Manson in particular seems to have the correct writing style (I'm looking at the S and M in particular)  But these signatures were supposedly signed in May of this year.  No, absolutely not.  Perhaps at one point they did sign like this, but definitely not anymore.  I have two of the promotional signed CDs, a full band signed album I got in person, and have friends who've gotten IP Garbage autographs galore on this tour and tours past.  All four signatures look like they might have been right 15+ years ago, but not in recent years.  Believe it or not, most full-band Garbage autographs on ebay right now are 100% authentic, making it all the easier to spot this as pure garbage (pun intended).

Exhibit B:

Florence Welch (Florence + the Machine)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Florence-Welch-The-Machine-SIGNED-Photo-COA...

This one really bothers me, since there's only one reason I can confidently call it out as a fake.  The seller's error is similar to what they did with the Garbage photo.  That actually does resemble quite closely her signature.  The smoking gun is in the description - signed March 6, 2012.  The only reason I can call this out as a forgery is because Florence just doesn't sign this way anymore.  In order to find any trend of authentic signatures signed in that manner, you need to go back at least 2-3 years ago.  Even then, the nicest signed items were often the high quality screenprint posters and memorabilia she signed for her website's store.  If you are able to get an in-person Florence Welch these days, I can guarantee you that even in the most ideal circumstances, you will most certainly not get a signature like the one pictured in that auction. I actually find it a bit disturbing, that the full, perfectly signed version of her signature seems to be almost easier to forge than more recent abridged/loosely flowing versions.

Sorry to be so long winded, but I'm curious whether anyone else can spot similar inconsistencies.  Are you seeing the same types of "anachronisms" that I am -- that is, signature styles from earlier eras being described as recently obtained, authentic in-person autographs?

This was also supposedly signed on March 6, 2012, though it clearly represents a signature style she hasn't used in a couple years.
