First off, I had never sent any of my autographs in to get authenticated, so this was my first experience.

I have a rather large collection of various memorabilia(anything from Rock, to Pop, to Historical, to NASCAR ect.) I just love the hobby as many of you do also.

I recently noticed on a local stores website that does many autograph signings( New England Picture) was having JSA do an in person authentication. I'm looking to downsize some of my collection on ebay to purchase more autographs I do not own(McCartney, Walt Disney etc.). So I said why not I'll take them down so they increase in value.

I have read many stories online that people have had problems with JSA/PSA, which is understandable as nobody can be perfect. However, my experience with JSA could not have gone better.

First off, the in person authenticator was Larry Studebaker, who is well known and respected, especially here in Massachusetts. He was SWAMPED with people bringing in autographs. He expected to leave at 3 and did not end up leaving until 10, the stores closing. He was overwhelmed with autographs, most of which were fake.

I saw a guy that must have had 5 Neil Armstrong autographs that turned out to be obvious auto pens.(sent ttm most likely). The guy went NUTS at Larry. However, he remained relaxed and cool.

My items were not finished until 6:30, but it was well worth the wait! Every single item he could authenticate was authentic, including a Dale Earnhardt Sr signed diecast, a Steven Tyler signed album, and a Jeff Gordon signed diecast. He is mostly known for sports so sadly he could not authenticate my band signed items. He is most likely going to have Roger look at them.

But anyways, my experience at the in person JSA show could not have gone better. Seeing all the other collectors, all the other memorabilia, and meeting Larry was a really cool experience! I would highly recommend if JSA is coming to town, to take a few items down just to get authenticated more for the experience. It was a great time!

I guess the point of this post is a review of my experience and to get others to post more authentication stories(good or bad), so post away!

Kevin.

Also if this thread is still alive in a few weeks, I will be posting pictures of my items with the LOAs and I will also let you know how my band signed music autographs turn out :)!

I wish you luck with the band-items! What bands/artists do you have? I am sure Roger will give you full feedback on those. Do you intend to send them in, or get a quick opinion?

They have actually been looked at by Larry in terms of pen flow and he then took pictures of them for Roger to look at to make sure form is there.

It was a permanent vacation Aerosmith band signed album
An Aerosmith Rocks band signed + Jack douglas(the producer) signed album.
An Acdc signed pickguard(that was on my guitar) with Angus, Malcolm, Cliff, and Simon
And an Axl and Slash signed CD cover(which I had looked at on these boards and 100% confident in as the person I got them from had exact proof with the CD cover posing with both Axl and Slash. He also got Axl first of course :P)

That's all I'm going to sell for now. I might keep my SR signed car. It's an old faded sig, but it's also a unique car, so we'll see.

Kevin
