Green Day rescheduled their show in Wny to yesterday because of Billy Joe Armstrongs short stop in rehab. Green Day has always been a band that I have admired as growing up they got me into a lot of lesser known punk bands. Kind of a gateway to the masses for underground punk scene. I have not seen these guys perform live since 1996 at least so I knew I had to try for them.
Luckily enough we have the world greatest music store the Great Great House of Guitars in town. If you do not believe me look up there amazing history. Well they scheduled a 1 hour meet and greet with bassist Mike Dirnt. As with all House of Guitars events the event was free no purchase necessary. I arrived at 10:15 am for the 3:00pm event. When I arrived there was 10 other people ahead of me. One group of girls was there at 8:00am and had taken a 14 hour bus from Montreal Canada. The 5 hours before the signing flew by. The House of Guitars is like a autograph and music hall of fame with all the items adorning the walls. Every time in the store I see something new. Also the owners are just cool cats to shoot the breeze with.
Signing came and Mike Dirnt arrived on stage as promised. Actually ended up signing two vinyl for me which was a bonus. There was over 500 people there and a lot of people prolly left dissapointed with no autograph but thats the nature of the beast.
After the great performance I headed out to the side of the Arena in hopes to add Tre Cool and of course Billy Joe Armstrong to the albums. Tre came out and kind of teased fans by taking a picture of us for his Instagram. He also took some pics with fans and handed out free diet dr pepper. Made it clear with a few expletives that he would not be signing. Even excused my buddy of being a ebayer with his guitar. I told him if he didnt sign my album I would be forced to buy a signed copy on ebay, Thus putting money in in person dealers hands. He was not amused and went back on the bus.
Mike Dirnt came out next and went straight to the bus with a wave. A couple guys with the band came out and handed out to fans empty cereal boxes and some tour shirts and said Mikes hand hurt from all the signing earlier. It wasnt looking good and we were holding out for Billy Joe.
The next event was a little April Fools Tom Foolery. The crowd was pumped for Billy Joe to come out. We see two Green Day security come out with a guy ducked down under a hoodie and sprint towards the bus. Everyone Immedialey screams Billy Billy Billy ! Even fulled the event security outside as they rushed to help him on the bus. The hoodie was revealed and it was not Billy Joe we had all been had.
Then Billy himself came out and we were not dissapointed spent a good amount of time signing and taking pics with fans on both sides of barricades. Gladly signed my two albums. Great day for graphing

Thanks Ryan was a great time.
Very cool. I tried to get Green Day after a show in Illinois last week. No luck.
Bummer Rich. Did they just not come over or was it a access thing ?
There was a moderate sized group, not too big at all, waiting by the tour busses. The police eventually came out and started threatening us. Real classy stuff. Like we were a real daunting hoarde.
Thats just terrible. I bet they would have signed if they allowed you to hang out. Green Day travels with there own security that usually pretty good at allowing the fans to interact if the band chooses. Watch out for all the criminals with sharpies :)
