Hi there,
thx for the opinions of all these "experts". As I know about the story, I don't care much, if you believe it or not.
@Carl Ryan
The reason, why I was posting it, is the following. When reading this information about the auction of the Beatles autographs, I thought, maybe I could also sell one of my items. For sure, it would not be so much money, but if it would be a 1/4, I would consider it. Si, I checked on the net, where are experts, that could tell me, how much it would be worth. I found this place and I had 2 options: a.) Writing: Hey, I have some true autographs - how much are they worth or b.) Asking about your opinion and if some of these experts would say "they are real" I would ask my question about the potential worth.
I would never think, that nobody believes, they are genuine (which shows to me the quality of such sites).
Again, I will not bother you anymore and whenever I am selling something, I will send you a link. I am sure, there are already many ways to prove, that the signature is more than 30 years old (radio, spectro-analysis or whatever). And why I should keep faked sigs for more than 30 years...well, whatever...case closed. But if that Roger Epperson would like to analyse it better...he is very welcome to do so.
Lesson learned: If one needs a verdict/opinion of autographs....if you say, fake...they are real...if you say real...they are fake.
@Rick Meyer...don't drink and type.
Have a good week
I don't what is the problem. You wanted to "challenge" the "experts" as you put it. There you go ! you got it ! If you are so sure about the provenance of your autographs (in this case you had them in person...) What do you need to come here to double check ? Surely there 's must be something better to do on a Monday night... If you want to sell i'am sure that dealer from the Midlands would make you an offer. He usually put his stuff on Ebay at a starting price of £19.99, so i don't think you are going to make a lot of money... End of story.
Hi Bruce, I don't want to argue. Maybe my starting point was not so lucky. As stated before, I thought, here experts would basically confirm that they are real and from that point on I would have asked what you guys would think, how much they could be worth.
well, I was wrong. As a matter of fact, I know, they are real, because I collected them myself. I am just puzzled that the part of the community here, that has answered, is obviously totally wrong and that confuses me.
But nevermind, I have sent a request to Christie's. I was simply wrong, when I asked amateurs. I am an amateur too, so I thought, you guys know it better.
I would tell it very simple:
You wished opinion of community (not just experts.... and probably because its free :))... I told you my advice as fan, I dont want to make an expert from myself, I´m not the expert. I looked at it as "wary buyer" and I would never buy this. I have very serious doubts about the authenticity. BTW I got Paul Rodgers signature when he was in CZ with Queen - and I KNOW that this autograph is impossible to sell (I dont want to sell it!) and also I KNOW that this autograph would never pass any authenticity exam... Its just because of conditions at the place and because of bad writing marker and bad conditions. This event also made me know how nice Roger´s autographs can be even under such a horrible conditions. Its very difficult to believe that Roger´s signs would look so awful under the conditions you described.
Maybe, just very theoretically, they are authentic (I really dont think so), but they look very suspicious and to be honest, your story just added strength to my suspicion - and I wrote why. So, if you awaited the reaction - yes those are perfect examples of authentic Queen signatures, sorry - those are far from it....
When did Christies get an expert?!?
Hassan,
Again, sorry, but i dont believe a word of what you have said. I have heard much much much better stories from those trying to pass off bad graphs, with a lot better forged items i might add. Stories mean nothing, the graphs are what matters, and these tell a damning story.
Since you have stated you got them IP, then it can only be assumed you have alterior motives, as these signatures are obviously fake and all signed by the same hand. I have my suspicions who your motives were and its a shame. Let me tell you just a few of your errors in forging these. And thats without taking into account how the signatures dont match up to real examples. First is that they are all signed with the same marker by the same hand. Their is no change in line thickness or pressure. Not to mention that the M/s in Brian May and Mercury are blatantly signed by the same hand. The signatures dont match up at all to known examples.
And again, as me and others have stated, no one comes to an autograph blog to ask if their autographs are real, when they got them in person and know they were real. Your trying to "challenge" or "test" the members is very telling, and again, its pretty obvious why you really did it.
I will be the first to admit i could be wrong in some cases, but if i am in this case, then i will truly be shocked, and will gladly apologize to you. But these signatures dont match at all, and are so blatantly signed in the same hand that its hard for me to even entertain that they could be real.
Roger Epperson is known in the autograph community as the best in the world when it comes to music autographs. He is an expert on Queen, and their probably is no better in the world on them. He is a member on this site, and offers either full, or quick opinion services on his website. Although occasionally and at his chosing, he will give free opinions to certain autographs. I hope he does in this case, as his opinion is pretty much solid on items like these.
So we will see if he will comment on them, i suggest leaving a comment on his wall Hassan, asking him to comment on their authenticity.
Carl:
I dont want to be devil´s advocate, but I discussed these signatures with my great friend who is one of the biggest Queen collectors and experts and he said to me, that those signatures looks very good - its not obvious example of fakes. His opinion is that those are fakes too, but not really clear ones. Brian May is excellent (it fits to his signatures from 79 period), the signature which is the worst one and which made him tell this verdict is Freddie´s one on NOTW which is really horrible... John´s signatures are not as bad as I supposed, because John had the period of time when he signed very "simple" signatures similar to this ones. He was very confused - not the clear fakes, not the clear authentic signs, the Freddie´s really poor one on NOTW was the one which made him say "good fakes".
I know now. It must has been an April Fools joke by whoever that posted these. :D
I've been collected Queen autographs in the last 20 yrs and if my opinion could worth something, I must say these LP's are all fakes. It seems that the faker learned to sign as Brian but had no idea how to handle the other members. No way queen signed this way in end of 70's. Beside this very suspicious having in one's hand 5 fully signed Queen LP's all with same marker.
Hello QueenMuseum Queencollector,
I wrote earlier, that I would not comment anymore, but your text is really special, so I could not resist.
"5 fully signed Queen LPs all with the same marker" ....hahaha, you must be kidding. Just think for a moment, that my story is true. I am carrying my 5 LPs to the hotel, where the band is staying and I meet them in the morning at the reception. So, what should I do? Carrying 6 different pens with me and asking Brian: Please sign with this black marker, going to John: Now, could you please use this blue pencil and...hey Freddie, just a sec, it would be good for me if you sign with this red pen and the other LP, please use this special green one, which is already old, but it looks more authentic??
At least you won the price for the most stupid comment here, thanks for that.
Guys, I was wrong - and inginuous.
Everybody here believes, the signatures are fakes ..and more...I have received an email from ha.com (the guys, that have sold the Beatles LP)..comment: fake!
What does this mean? That means, that the entire autograph community and all these experts have in fact no clue. They are doing something, what I think it calles "to read tea leaves". I am so glad that I have never ever thought about buying autographs, because there is no expertise. This is all a big joke.
Once again: I have collected the autographs myself on Jan20, 1979 and if one of these sigs is a fake, my entire family should burn in hell, so your verdict just makes me laugh.
I thought, I would find experts in the internet, but not even "auction experts" have the skills, to see, what is right and what is wrong.
But up from now, when I have a look at my LPs, I will have a smile and think about all these autograph-nerds, that believe, they know what they are talking about...but they have no idea.
Thanks, "QueenMuseum Queencollector" for that amusing moment. You have wasted your past 20 years of "experience" - better collect stamps, my friend.
...same marker...I don't believe this...
aah, just forgot: pity, that your "expert" Roger Epperson has never replied to me. It would have been fun to see the next "expert"'s opinion.
