Hi everyone! I'm new on here and looking for your opinions on a piece that I just bought. I have just bought a cast signed Ghostbusters poster from Antiquities of California via their website. I have compared some of the signatures and they look alright from what I've seen, but then again I don't know anything about authenticating a signature.

This was a pretty expensive piece but I'm a huge fan and I've been looking for a real one for a long time. After doing some research on this website I have gotten a little weary about their authentications and was just wondering if you guys could help me out. I do want to stress however that so far their staff has been very kind and haven't given me a reason distrust them, but I feel that I should cover all of my bases. They claim that all of these signatures were done at the same time during a scheduled sitting.

I haven't received the poster yet so I will give you the pictures that I have, but I can post better ones in a few weeks when it comes in if needed.

Thanks for your opinions, this is a great web site!

Oh, and obviously here are the celebrities that have signed the poster:

Ghostbusters – signed movie poster by Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Sigourney Weaver, Rick Moranis, Annie Potts, Ernie Hudson and director Ivan Reitman.

Oh and Reginald VelJohnson

Anyone have any expertise in this area? I know it's not as high profile as a lot of the other autographs in here, but I'm still pretty curious.
Thanks all!

Hi Brad.  I'll throw my two cents in.  First of all, I don't have especially good knowledge of those signatures in particular, but I can say that Antiquities of California seems to be an especially bad autograph dealer.  Their framing jobs look amazing, but I generally see nothing but forgeries on their website.  I don't know if their autograph knowledge is really that bad or if the place is a full blown scam, but when people ask, I highly recommend against purchasing from them.  Among other forum members, I'm hardly alone in that sentiment.

Store aside, there are a handful of common-sense type questions I'd have when purchasing something like this.  They say it comes from a "scheduled sitting."  I'd bet you that such a signing never occurred.  Ask them for photos from the event where the entire cast was sitting down signing autographs.  Ask them for any documentation at all.

Ernie Hudson does comic cons and autograph shows.  Everyone else here, not so much.  Sigourney Weaver did one private signing with Celebrity Authentics.  Bill Murray is an incredibly difficult autograph and is especially unlikely to sign a poster like this.  Rick Moranis has been retired for years and seems to be basically out of the public eye altogether.

In summary, this is something of an unlikely piece.  I would ask this company for some solid provenance, especially on their assertion that it came from a signing event.

Yeah I only realized their reputation after the fact. I am already in talks with them about getting the information behind the item.
I know some of these autographs are hard to get, and some of the actors are reluctant to sign but I know that these posters do exist so it's not impossible.
That being said I am concerned, so if someone can tell me if the autographs look legitimate it would help me a lot.
If I can get some evidence then I could cancel my order.
Thanks for your opinion!
Has anyone ever seen a legitimate signature from antiquities of California? If they do sell at least some real ones then at least I could have some hope lol.
Thanks for your opinion. I'm getting closer to the point of wanting to cancel the sale unless I can get some hard evidence from them. It won't ship for another week or so, but they have my money already so I might be SOL.
So what I've been told these were not all obtained at the same time. He also said that he has two more posters without Bill Murray's signature that are not for sale. They said it is very hard for them to get his autograph, and they don't sell these until they can get it apparently. They said a chance to get his signature are few and far between.
I have more information from them on the way.
I don't want to accuse them of anything until I get all of the facts straight.
I must say it's not a good feeling when your unsure and your hard earned money is involved.

Well, just a quick glance at a couple items - at least two of their three Aaron Rodgers autographs are fake.  All five U2 items are fake (and done by different forgers - you'd think they'd ask questions as to why these look completely different).  I do see some authentic items from Steiner, Favre holo, etc.  Still, it doesn't look promising.

So your saying there's a chance! Lol

Not a good one.  Why is there more info on the way?  Why not tell you now?  It really suggests they're fabricating their story.

Does anyone have any knowledge on bill Murray's signature specifically? His would give the most evidence to whether this is real or not. I have seen his signature a few different ways. The one on this poster I have seen similar on a few others. But I'm no expert. I can't pick up the smaller details.
