I've had a few things signed by Ace in person over the last few years - this looks good to me (although I'm no expert). Can you ask the seller if the photo has Ace posing with THAT photo? I imagine the photo is from one of Ace's official photo ops from a convention. So, I can sort of understand not wanting to post the shot on Ebay. The last time I saw Ace at a convention, I had to specifically ask if we could include one of the signed items in the photo with Ace. They said sure and the shot did accidentally include some of the other items I was getting signed scattered around the table. So, I wouldn't be surprised if your seller's proof is just a shot of him, Ace, and a table full of stuff.
If it was from a convention of some sort, then Ace was signing loads of stuff and odds are that the seller will not have exact proof for your particular item, especially if it was an item that he signed many copies of.
Thats a pretty good price. Factoring in his fee for autographs ($30), admission to a convention ($20-25) - that leaves you paying about $20 to NOT wait in line a few hours. Good deal!
I hate to be the dissenting opinion here but if you look at the signed book Ace uses the "e" in Ace as the long straight stem of the "F" in Frehley on the book and the last two conventions I attended recently where he was signing my items all look like the book and on the photo that connection is not made on the " e ". My items were signed in 2011 and 2012.This photo may be legit if signed earlier but all recent items signed seem to carry that characteristic I described but again as other have stated I am no expert either.
I've had a few things signed by Ace from 2011-2013. Not every item has the connecting E and F. The same day he signed the book (oct 2013), he signed a 8x10 that did not connect the E/F. He also signed an LP that DID connect. Same deal in 2011 at the same signing - one LP with connected E/F then signed another LP 10 seconds later without.
Having got all these in person myself, I don't think the E/F connection is that strong a concern, honestly. Certainly nothing wrong with getting Roger's quick opinion thru his website.
