Hello everyone,

Hope you had a great new year. Anyway, i am a big fan of Newberry comics. Throughout the years they have run some amazing deals on there website, offering autographed CD brochures, from some very desirable artists. In fact, they have been one of the main sources of music autographs in my collection when it comes to modern performers and rock bands.

I check in there daily, and for the past 6 months at least, there has not been one new edition that i know of. It used to be that Newberry would put there new autographed cd brochures on the fornt page advertisting who they just got in. Some months were slow of course, but there were always a few at least a month. But there has been nothing new advertised for at least 6 months.

Does anyone know if Newberry is getting out of the autograph business? I am pretty sure something is up, i just dont know what it is. I would hate it if they no longer will be dealing in autographs, b/c it was such a great source.

If anyone knows anything, i would very much like to know about it, as i hope they continue offering items, as you can find some gems.

Thanks for reading,

Carl

While they haven't had anything new in the last few weeks, there have most certainly been new releases available in the last six months.  I've done a few pre-orders with them for new releases since then, the most recent being in October.

Thanks so much guys,

Rich and Steve,

Are the new promotional signed CD bookelts popping up like they used to when you go to the Newberry homepage?? Normally, i would just go to the homepage and there on the front would be the new promotional items. But i havent seen anything at all up on the homepage in many months it seems. I dont know if somehow i am overlooking them or what. Are they now just listing them under the autographed booklets section?? Maybe thats my problem.

I have just been so used to going to the homepage and seeing the new promotions, i havent thought to look under any categories.

Thanks guys

Yeah, I'll agree there haven't been any new ones in recent weeks.  I figured that maybe it was just because there weren't any significant releases (at least with promotional autographed booklets) going into the end of the year.  But I was also starting to wonder if they're starting to phase it out, since it has been a while.

They have had signed booklets in the last few month.  Los Lobos was one.

Well, here's the other question:  Does anyone other than Newbury have a decent selection of these for sale?

By the way, they just listed their first signed CD preorder in weeks  - Big Head Todd and the Monsters.  So, apparently, they aren't done yet.

Looks like a few more pre-orders were just added today.

Thanks Rich,

I saw that big head todd item pop up a week or so ago, and now they seem to be getting in more names. I was worried they were getting out of it. I have found some amazing items there at dirt cheap prices.

Another one to keep an eye on is JB Hi-Fi in Australia and NZ (sort of their version of Best Buy).  They do offer a limited selection of signed CDs, some of which aren't offered in the US.

Australia's Sanity website also has some signed Australia only releases.

I recently order a signed Blues Traveler cd from them. I was disappointed how abbreviated the signatures were. They looked like one or two letters for each name.

The Ice Cube and Alanis I have from them are full and great. I hope they keep doing it.

Yeah, some look ugly, some are quite nice.  Usually, unless it's a hot pre-order, you can see what the signed promotional copies look like on Ebay.  Some aren't very nicely signed at all, like Regina Spektor, Heart and Dolores O'Riordon.  Others are very neatly signed and look great, like Kimbra, Dido, Alice in Chains and Don Felder.

Your right about the Heart signed CDs. The color of the marker they used is very hard to see against the color of the CD cover. All other signed CDs I have gotten from them came out very nice. Only issue I had was with the Alice in Chains there is a fingerprint in one of the signatures. The Don Felder, Joe Cocker, Frampton, the Slash's..etc have all came out awesome.

I must have missed the Kimbra offering. I don't remember that one.
