Why blatantly lie?
First is this pair of signed Michael Jordan 1985 shoes with asking price of 100k.
He said he's had them for years and that I'm an idiot if I think they sold for 400 a few weeks back

Then this guy is selling these shoes he "thinks" Jordan wore even though they are too small. Says they've never been for sale publicly and were obtained by a friend of MJ...except I found the original listing where it says they were found in a storage locker lol

The first guy just blew my mind since I was literally watching that auction a few weeks ago
The other completed listing I found by accident and I understand that he is saying he thinks they are worn cause that's what the other seller said - but to say they came from MJ when that isn't even implied originally rubs me the wrong why

I see that too often on Ebay. Most of the time, the lies accompany a bad forgery and just look stupid. But it's really bizarre when a seller lies to make an authentic item more attractive. That's a foul, too. Check out the autographs99/Rolling Stones poster thread from today.

Yeah, I mentioned that theory that maybe it was just a sloppy job of cleaning up an existing template. But he bluntly states that he gets all his stuff himself and . . . obviously not.

I asked for pics. He said look at the ad. I said that came from an auction site. He said "prove it". Ummm it clearly says "Goldin Auctions" on the bottom corner lol
Anyway...he goes on to say he has it even though it sold at auction couple weeks back. Also says it's signed by Jordan. Too bad the pic was of the recruitment letter and isn't signed by jordan at all.
He refused to send me pics of whatever he had saying I'm an idiot haha

Thanks for sharing. This is why I have left Ebay a while back. They just care about the $ and to say they have third party authentication is a joke. I have advice to my fellow collector's who buy on Ebay. Use common sense and trust your instincts.

Completely agree Steven. I stopped using eBay a while back, as far as for purchasing autographed items, and really only buy trading cards or other non autographed collectables. I think PSA's opinion service for eBay and other sites is a great resource, when determining whether or not to purchase an autographed item, but like you said "use common sense and trust your instincts."
