Thoughts on this one?

I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, but I'd be interested in opinions on the authenticity of this signed photo. From studying some of the great information supplied by Pauline Berry and others, I'm still very unsure about it. It certainly looks a little too controlled and lacks any greeting, and if it was signed post 1955 still has "lyn" not "fin". The white surround on the photo is also a little longer on the bottom and I'm not sure if this gives it away too. Any thoughts?

Hi Michelle

Most definitely a forgery IMO. This is a common forgery hand I have seen over and over. One particular forger's version of Monroe autograph.  

I might use this on my other blog I have started called http://marilynmonroeforgedsignatures.blogspot.com - you will see this signature is quite similar to some on there, particularly the image with the Ebay logo across it, 4th image down the page.

Also, you will notice it almost looks as if a ruler was the guide underneath the signing? this is not a mark of Marilyn's signature, she usually had small archways spanning each word, especially after she was a star, only her earliest signings had a straight baseline like this, when she still half printing. 

The baseline became very wild indeed.

Hi Pauline, many thanks for your opinion, I thought it had to be too good to be true... and I can see what you mean with regards to the baseline, I think that is perhaps what makes it appear so "controlled". Her signature is certainly a fascinating thing to study, I'm enjoying the journey...  and appreciating the guidance of your and others postings. Thanks again.
