Hi all-

Really appreciate the knowledge on this website. Have been a bottom of the barrel hof ball collector for a while but my pops wants to get me a Ted Williams ball for my bday. Any suggestions on where to get it? Looked on eBay but am REALLY scared to buy anything not psa or jsa. Thoughts?

You can find ones on eBay, post them here and get opinions. I'm selling a Williams ball so, depending on your budget, we might be able to work something out.

Thanks Mike.   Budget isn't crazy high.   Will probably have PSA or JSA authenticate next time they are in town.  Here are the three I was looking at on ebay (I don't expect to get them for what they are at right now):

Not great with Williams but I'd say the first two are good and the third one is bad. The ball I have for sale is SGC authenticated.

Thanks Mike.   There are a couple on ebay right now that are PSA authenticated.   I want to see what they end up going for and will go from there.

I'd love to hear what William Farrell thinks on the first two of these as well.   Always have appreciated his opinion.

I dont like 2 and 3.Am looking at seller 1s other stuff.

Calling Chris Williams and the terrier

Mike is correct. third one is horrible forgery.   First one is authentic.  second one is highly questionable, likely forgery

Understandable William. As previously said, appreciate your opinion. On a side bar I bought that campanella I posted on earlier in the week. Will post better pics when it shows up.

Ian, thank you for the opinions as well. Don't know what I would do without this board.

must have missed the Campy. Depending on how the ball is stitched will tell you almost everything you need to know. Looking forward to seeing it.

While I am not a proponent for JSA & PSA, they will usually get Williams right...but watch out for a scam LOL.

1. Your best bet, but I don't like it. Looking at the sellers Fake Dimaggio tells me to just steer clear of it. probably a forgery especially with the stupid pic that comes with it I've seen a 100 times.

2. Don't really like it and the ball is a raccoon mess...I'd pass

3. Amateurish Forgery. Open d and open a...is all i need to see.

Back to the drawing board. Look for a Williams ball with a galen COA. He did signings for them and they tend to be pretty nice. You can also go all in for an upperdeck Williams, but they are hard to find in nice shape despite coming in a ball bag and box for storage. Good Luck

Exactly.

Thanks for the info. I am cheap buyer right now so I have a few balls quite roached by time. The campy is interesting. It's on an old spalding ball I am having trouble dating. Definitely old, just not sure if it's pre 55 old. It's faded and I got it CHEAP. Like $50 cheap on whim.

Thanks for all the info again guys. This community is amazing.

Nick

Should have saved the $50.00 on a whim and put it into the bank. Don't go on the cheap Nick...that's a SURE recipe for scams, flams, and rams...right into the sphincter muscle.

Seriously, please don't be Impatient Eddie, Nick
